The Ponte Tron, also known as the Piavola Bridge (Ponte de la Piavola), is one of more than 400 bridges in Venice, Italy. It is close to St. Mark’s Square and crosses the bridge near Bacino Orseolo. Rio Orseolo (Rio Orseolo). The image of the lion head of St. Mark appeared on the scroll decoration in the center of the arch. The bridge is made of salt-white Istrian stone, which is common in Venice, and has railings with classical vase sections. Because of its small size, the bridge was called la piavola by the Venetians and was built in the late 1840s.

In addition to the impeccable architecture and splendid construction, I found the traffic of gondolas passing under this bridge in an alternating way truly characteristic. Fortunately there was not too much flow of people so I managed to admire everything calmly.

An easy walk through the now deserted Calle Larga de l'Ascension, and next to the top fashion shops, we reach the Ponte Tron o della Piavola. The bridge is located very close to St. Mark's Square and connects the Square with the Teatro La Fenice by Frezzaria Street. The Venetians prefer to call it Ponte de la Piavola (Puppet Bridge) because of its small size. The bridge bridges the Orseolo Canal near the Bay of Orseolo (Bacino Orseolo). This part of the open part of the water (Bacino Orseolo), which functions as a kind of gondola parking lot, was developed in the mid-1800s. The bridge was built in late 1840 in the part of Venice where many houses were owned by the aristocratic Tron family (they also gave one doge - Nicolò Tron in 1471), which is why the bridge was officially named after them - Ponte Tron. It was built of Istrian stone, with balustrades and a cartouche in the middle on which is a relief of the symbol of the Venetian Republic - the lion, numerous gondolas are now parked near the bridge and gondoliers have fun waiting for tourists.
