★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il Ponte Barucelli o Diruto presso la Via Praenestina antica è uno dei tratti più monumentali degli undici acquedotti dell’Urbe. È formato in realtà – caso unico lungo il tracciato delle aquae publicae – di due ponti affiancati, distanti solo circa 8 metri, che superano il fosso dell’Acqua Nera: quello a monte (verso Sud) appartiene all’Anio novus, così denominato perché captava l’acqua del fiume Aniene e perché più recente dell’Anio vetus, quello a valle (verso Nord) appartiene invece all’Aqua Claudia, alimentata da ottime fonti.
Entrambi, insieme all’Anio vetus e all’Aqua Marcia, provenivano dalla
valle dell’Aniene fra Tivoli e Subiaco e, dopo un impervio percorso di circa 80 chilometri fra monti e valli, raggiungevano Roma a Porta Maggiore
entrando nelle Mura Aureliane.
 The Barucelli or Diruto Bridge at the ancient Via Praenestina is one of the most monumental features of the eleven aqueducts of the city. It is actually formed - unique case along the route of the aquae publicae - of two side-by-side bridges, only about 8 meters apart, which cross the Acqua Nera ditch: the one upstream (towards the south) belongs to the Anio novus, so called because it captured the water of the Aniene river and because it is more recent than the Anio vetus, the one downstream (towards the north) belongs to the Aqua Claudia, fed by excellent sources.
Both, together with Anio vetus and Aqua Marcia, came from
Aniene valley between Tivoli and Subiaco and, after an arduous journey of about 80 kilometers between mountains and valleys, they reached Rome at Porta Maggiore
entering the Aurelian Walls.
