★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's such a shame to leave a negative review, but I feel compelled to. The service here is very slow. This didn't bother us, as we're on holiday, and in no rush. Also the food we ordered was delicious, hot and freshly prepared. BUT...the staff, on arrival, were not that welcoming. No greeting, or at the very least, a quick wave of the hand. The older gentleman who took our order was quite friendly.
The reason for my negative review, was my experience when I went inside to pay. The lady on the till was deeply engrossed in a conversation. I'm guessing she was chatting to other customers. I don't know for sure, because not once did she pause, to look at me, or even give a nod or a wave....anything to let me know she was aware I existed. I stood next to the till for at least five minutes being igmored. Staff bustled back and forth, but none of them smiled or acknowledged me.
When the lady eventually decided to process my payment, there was no please or thankyou. No interaction of any kind took place.
I would never go back to eat there again. This is a shame, as the food was lovely. But the lady at the till, not so much. ☹☹☹☹☹

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ After our tour of Mount Etna whilst on our way back to port to head back to Malta, we stopped in Modica. Enter La Perla. The staff were incredibly accommodating to our needs as we had a limited amount of time until the bus was to leave. We sat outside on a mild November evening and were treated like royalty. This Coloradan will always remember the Sicilian hospitality shown me at this fine pizzeria. My Ravioli Riccota and mixed salad really hit the spot after a long day, alongside the pizzas, sparkling water and red wine we ordered.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I love Modica and whenever I go there I have to eat a Pizza in La Perla. I have traveled all over Italy and without exaggeration this is so far my favourite Pizza place. If I had to name a favourite pizza - which is hard - it would be this delicate one with Mortadella & Pistachio-Creme.
