Qui si vive un’atmosfera di magia e di tempo sospeso, riportandoci alle mitiche origini selvagge di questa terra Pontina. Grandi alberi affondano le loro radici nell’acqua e vi specchiano le loro chiome, e migliaia di insetti, anfibi e rettili vi vivono. Giovani alberi di quercia Cerro, Frassini e Farnie, crescono attorno alle piscine, edera rigogliosa avvolge i tronchi degli alberi più vecchi e cespugli di pungitopo abbondano nel sottobosco. Qui il cinghiale viene a fare i bagni di fango per poi strusciarsi contro i tronchi ruvidi e pulirsi dai parassiti, il picchio va in cerca di insetti nei tronchi marcescenti, la biscia a caccia di rane e i rospi di insetti, istrici e daini vengono a bere. In estate le piscine, si asciugano e viene fuori il fondo fangoso con i suoi depositi e soprattutto con al suo interno larve e uova di insetti, radici; tutto cibo molto appetito soprattutto dai cinghiali, che ne approfittano per scavare il fango con il loro forte muso armato di sporgenti denti. The Verdesca Pool are areas rich in life and attract the large animals and birds of the forest. Here there is an atmosphere of magic and suspended time, bringing us back to the mythical wild origins of this Pontine land. Large trees sink their roots into the water and mirror their foliage, and thousands of insects, amphibians and reptiles live there. Young oak trees Cerro, Frassini and Farnie, grow around the pools, luxuriant ivy wraps the trunks of older trees and butcher's broom bushes abound in the undergrowth. Here the wild boar comes to bathe in mud and then rubs against the rough trunks and cleans itself of parasites, the woodpecker goes in search of insects in the rotting trunks, the snake chasing frogs and the toads of insects, porcupines and fallow deer come to drinking. In summer the pools dry out and the muddy bottom comes out with its deposits and above all with larvae and insect eggs, roots; all food very appetite especially from wild boars, who take advantage of it to dig mud with their strong muzzle armed with protruding teeth.
