A fianco un piccolo museo di storia e civiltà contadina la cui attività è sostenuta da un'associazione meritevole di attenzione . Assolutamente da visitare. A wonderful 11th century parish church surrounded by an olive grove and overlooking the Arno valley. Next to it a small museum of peasant history and civilization whose activity is supported by an association worthy of attention. A must visit.
B	Beatrice Gioli on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ S. Romolo a Cortule o Corticella o meglio conosciuta come Pieve di Gaville. Già prima del mille si hanno notizie di un luogo sacro. Sicuramente in origine la torre aveva un'altra funzione(campanile)considerando che era stata costruita sulla strada romana Cassia Adrianea...collegando a nord la Pieve di S.Pietro a Cintoia passando da Badia Montescalari,sino a giungere a sud con S.Pancrazio(Cavriglia),passando appunto da Gaville.Ancora oggi,giungendo dalla strada del Gavillaccio,si apre davanti ai nostri occhi questa meraviglia di romanico(abside rivolta ad est)e suscita ancora stupore. Per moltissimi anni,anzi secoli,è stato il fulcro della vita di moltissime persone.Qui la storia è veramente stratificata e si perde nelle pieghe del tempo...all'interno della Pieve si trovano due campane,una era posta sulla chiesa di S.Donato in Avane il paese scomparso a causa della miniera di lignite.Non sempre è facile visitare l'interno perché dobbiamo aspettare le funzioni religiose. Un vero peccato perché potrebbe essere resa più fruibile. Neanche il vicino museo della civiltà contadina in questo è di aiuto! Ancora però resta immersa nel verde degli ulivi e i cipressi suoi guardiani. S. Romolo a Cortule or Corticella or better known as Pieve di Gaville. Already before the thousand there is news of a sacred place. Surely originally the tower had another function (bell tower) considering that it had been built on the Roman road Cassia Adrianea ... connecting to the north the Parish Church of S. Pietro a Cintoia passing from Badia Montescalari, until reaching south with S. Pancrazio (Cavriglia), passing precisely from Gaville. Still today, coming from the Gavillaccio road, this marvel of Romanesque (apse facing east) opens before our eyes and still arouses astonishment. For many years, indeed centuries, it was the fulcrum of the life of many people. Here the story is truly stratified and is lost in the folds of time ... inside the Pieve there are two bells, one was placed on the church of S .Donated in Avane the village disappeared due to the lignite mine. It is not always easy to visit the interior because we have to wait for religious services. A pity because it could be made more accessible. Not even the nearby museum of rural civilization helps! Still, however, it remains immersed in the green of the olive trees and its guardian cypresses.

I	Isabella Pulignani on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Pieve di San Romolo a Gaville situata in una frazione del comune do Incis e Figline Valdsrno ; questa chiesa sorge in un luogo che era abitato gia' in epoca romana, nei 1030 la chiesa era ancora da ultimare e nel 1070 risulta compiuta. Il borgo poco distante dalla chiesa fu distrutto alla fine delXIII sec per vendetta a causa dell' uccisione di Francesco Cavalcanti :i suoi familiari assaltarono e distrussero strminando la popolazione e la chiesa rimase solitaria ( la vicenda e' ricordata da Dante nel canto XXV dell' inferno). Nel 700 l' edificio fu modificato e prese un aspetto barocco, con l' intervento di restauro del 1957- 62 e' stata riportata all' aspetto medievale. L' interno che e' molto bello e ricco di opere d' arte non ho potuto vederlo perche' la chies era chiusa. The Parish Church of San Romolo in Gaville located in a fraction of the municipality of Incis and Figline Valdsrno; this church stands in a place that was already inhabited in Roman times, in 1030 the church was still to be completed and in 1070 it was completed. The village not far from the church was destroyed at the end of the 13th century for revenge due to the killing of Francesco Cavalcanti: his family members attacked and destroyed the population and the church remained solitary (the story is remembered by Dante in canto XXV of the hell). In 700 the building was modified and took on a baroque aspect, with the restoration of 1957-62 it was restored to its medieval aspect. I could not see the interior which is very beautiful and full of works of art because the church was closed.
