La sua costruzione fu iniziata ai primi del Quattrocento dall'ordine dei Servi di Maria. Il portale della chiesa è stato eseguito dalla bottega presso cui lavorava Andrea Palladio all'inizio della propria carriera e costituirebbe una delle sue primissime opere. Nel 1810 la parrocchia fu qui trasferita dalla chiesa romanico-gotica di San Michele la quale sorgeva presso l'Oratorio di San Nicola da Tolentino. La chiesa di San Michele, eretta circa nel 1264, fu affidata agli Agostiniani e poi distrutta nel 1812. Questa chiesa era ricca di pale d'altare (Giulio Carpioni, Tintoretto, Bartolomeo Montagna, Giovanni Buonconsiglio ed altri). L'attuale costruzione della Chiesa di Santa Maria in Foro fu iniziata sulla fabbrica preesistente dopo il 1404, anno in cui Vicenza passava sotto il dominio della Repubblica di Venezia. Santa Maria in Foro called dei Servi is a church in Vicenza located in Piazza Biade, a small square adjacent to Piazza dei Signori. Its construction was begun in the early fifteenth century by the order of the Servants of Mary. The portal of the church was made by the workshop where Andrea Palladio worked at the beginning of his career and would constitute one of his very first works. In 1810 the parish was transferred here from the Romanesque-Gothic church of San Michele which once stood in the Oratory of San Nicola da Tolentino. The church of San Michele, built around 1264, was entrusted to the Augustinians and then destroyed in 1812. This church was rich in altarpieces (Giulio Carpioni, Tintoretto, Bartolomeo Montagna, Giovanni Buonconsiglio and others). The current construction of the Church of Santa Maria in Foro was begun on the pre-existing factory after 1404, the year in which Vicenza passed under the dominion of the Republic of Venice.

La facciata é in stile barocco e risale al 1600. L'interno é divisa in tre navate, ed é un connubio tra lo stile cistercense e romanico. Vi sono tele di importanti autori come: Montagna e Lombardo. The façade is in Baroque style and dates back to the 1600s. The interior is divided into three naves, and is a combination of the Cistercian and Romanesque style. M	Matteo Laurenzi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bellissima chiesa proprio davanti alla piazza detta dei signori a Vicenza. La storia di questa chiesa è molto interessante. È tenuta molto bene. I monumenti, i quadri, le sculture ed altre opere d'arte sono molto belle e secondo me anche di ottima qualità. Secondo me è una di quelle "mete secondarie" obbligatorie da visitare quando si è a Vicenza. Beautiful church right in front of the square known as the lords in Vicenza. The history of this church is very interesting. It is very well kept. The monuments, paintings, sculptures and other works of art are very beautiful and in my opinion also of excellent quality. In my opinion it is one of those obligatory "secondary destinations" to visit when in Vicenza.
