Beautiful Romanesque church in the center of Pistoia, a stone's throw from the Duomo. The pulpit and the worked capitals are beautiful. In addition to religious services, other events are also held there.

Although it is outside the "giro grosso" of the cathedral and its surroundings, it is one of the oldest churches in the city, dating back to 1159, with an excellent 1167 portal by Gruamonte (the style is unmistakable). Inside the usual admirable pulpit, but also interesting traces of fourteenth-century frescoes. Don't leave it out of your visit to Pistoia, it doesn't deserve it!

Less known but beautiful monument. The interior is evocative, with a Romanesque aspect that is still perfectly legible. On the façade the ancient elements are still clearly visible in the lower band, but the upper part is more recent

Very ancient church, whose foundation dates back to much earlier than the year one thousand. The current appearance in the Pistoia Romanesque style, with the typical dichromate bands, is due to the 12th century renovations. The architrave of the portal, dated 1167, is attributed to Gruamonte. The upper part of the facade unfortunately derives from sixteenth / eighteenth century renovations. Inside there are few vestiges of the original frescoes: noteworthy is the Christ in majesty in the apse, dating back to the thirteenth century as well as the beautiful marble pulpit sculpted by Guido da Como. The building is located slightly below the current road level and on the back there is a large green area bordering the original marshy area, recalled in the current toponymy which describes the surrounding area as a "quagmire", which extended immediately outside the walls that protected the city to the west. On the side stands the imposing bell tower, of which only the lower stone part is part of the original building after the collapse which took place at the end of the 13th century. Easily reachable on foot for tourists visiting the center (less than 200 meters from the cathedral), it is definitely a stop not to be missed.

The church of San Bartolomeo de Pantano is one of the oldest sacred buildings in Pistoia. Built in the area where the torrent bed has moved over the lake over the years, it owes its name to the "mud" of the area. Some documents attest to the construction of the building at the request of the London doctor Gaidoaldo, between 726 and 764. It seems that the canons of Lateran, of the Order of St. Augustine, also known as Rocchettini, wished, with this practice, to eliminate the tragedies of the spirits of children. In recent times, an anointing against throat diseases has also been added. The building of the church of San Bartolomé, as we can admire today, reflects the projects entrusted by the good previous year 1159. Very beautiful is the two-color effect obtained on the facade, one of the characteristics of the Romanesque of Pistoia. Many Romanesque sculptures and a lintel on the façade have been preserved, representing the disbelief of Thomas, dated 1167. The various changes that have taken place over the centuries have significantly changed the interior of the building. A restoration carried out during the last century has been aimed at removing some of these modifications, to bring the building as close as possible to its original appearance. One of the most important interventions is the restoration of the pesto pesto floor and the reopening of the mounted lancet windows. As is often the case in restorations, traces of fresh cutlery have emerged. Precious are the works preserved inside the building, including a crucifix, sculptural complexes and various ancient paintings.
