We were greeted by Giovanni who came to meet us to guide us through the maze of old Catania to the door of our Odissea room on the top floor of the Palazzu. We discovered a space at the same time cozy and charming with its two mezzanines in driftwood, its pretty bathroom with balcony and sight on the castle Ursino and the common terrace of the 1st floor. Giovanni also kindly recommended several typical places in Catania for a drink and a meal. The parking in front of the Palazzu is very convenient. In short to recommend :)

John is the apartment "Amuri" friendly and talkative, has a delightful bohemian atmosphere but it is very functional. The attention to detail is almost touching. The air conditioner and the fan is very silent and work perfectly. The jasmine scent that comes from the lovely balcony is intoxicating. The charmingly (but studiously) scruffy communal terrace, would be a perfect film location.

seedy It is well located. But it is seedy in general, the shower very uncomfortable. It is quite difficult to get there. They have a parking lot that is rather a dirty and old hovel, and there is also always someone parked in front of it, so you lose a lot of time every time you want to get in or out.

Warning: this hotel is right in front of a bar that plays music until 2am. Very loud crowd and street. Would not recommend at all (if sleep or rest is important to you)

We have just stayed at the Palazzu Stidda for a week in January. We were looking forward to staying here in the duplex apartment in Catania and the stay lived up to our expectations. We loved how the artists/ owners Giovanni and Patricia have incorporated recycled materials ,objects and furniture creating an artistic space that reflects their passion for creativity and for the arts in which they utilised both their talents to create original pieces of furniture and decorations which are functional and practical in the interior design of the apartments, the terrace garden and artistic elements on the exterior of the buildings. Everyday we would discover something new in the apartment which was a lovely surprise. We met Giovanni who shared his knowledge of Catania’s sightseeing places and recommendations of restaurants etc .The apartments are located in a 5 minute walk to Piazza del Duomo and an outdoor market. We were also looked after by his caretaker Anil who kindly picked us up and drove us back to the airport who was caring and helpful. We genuinely appreciate the time and effort that was put in by everyone to make our stay so memorable and we feel that if you really want to experience a taste of living in Catania, then we can highly recommend staying at the Palazzu Stidda.

First we tried to find spot for our car half of a night, then we can't sleep because of the loud music and crowd just under the window till sunrise. In kitchen we have only electric kettle and pizza oven. No microwave to heat our meal. But everything was clean. If you not planing to sleeping and eating there it's fit for you. Its great location to discover center of Catania.

Please know what you are getting at this hotel/apartment. Very cool decor and boho vibe at it’s finest and most practical. The check-in was a snap and the hosts were super helpful getting us a Covid test for travel. However, the rooms are directly across from a very busy (and cool!) bar and the noise is next to impossible to avoid. And the party goes late, especially on Friday / Saturday. My wife and I are heavy sleepers so we were able to deal with it. The double panes windows and door panels definitely helped. I would stay again but light sleepers — you’ve been warned.
