β β β β β A beautiful sanctuary was ransacked and mutilated by a comical, ill-placed, occult-like, illegible contemporary art installation pretending to be sacred/liturgical art. So sad.

β β β β β One of Padua's most important monuments is the Cathedral, dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta. The various chapels it contains are rich in valuable works of art.Also next to the cathedral, in the Piazza Duomo, there is a typical Romanesque building, the Baptistery. It is worth a visit.

β β β β β It's one of those places we get to see by chance and amazes us. I mean, we go to Padua thinking of St Anthony's basilica and then we find that the main church of the city is Padua Duomo. It's different from the most known churches of Italy, because it's not so sumptuous. It's almost clean in its whiteness. Beautiful, no doubt. A Renaissance building with Michelangelo involved in its construction? Amazing. But I find that I like the magnificence and artistry of Italian churches, so I must say that I was absolutely dazzled by the Baptistery with its frescoes painted by Giusto de Menebuoi. Incredibly beautiful.
