Although this place offers decent coffee and a nice selection of cakes and pastries at excellent prices, I have to mark the bar down because of their inadequate toilet facilities. If you’ve walked a good way and you are going to need to use the WC, you need to be aware that there is not a conventional toilet and it is a ‘hole in the floor’ facility. How the proprietor expects ladies to squat in dirty conditions is beyond me. It is OK retaining charming features, but this is not one that should be expected in the year 2018! Oh and make sure there is a supply of toilet paper. I am really confused how so many people have rated this place as 5 stars. It’s the overall experience and not just about the coffee.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic setting, the building is an old biscotti bakery and the seating area is in the old kitchen (has the old mixer, tills, oven etc). It's a small and quiet stop, especially as it seems quite unknown to tourists! Staff are lovely and were happy to recommend local places to us for our evening meal. The prices are very reasonable - glass of wine was €3 and small bottle of beer €2 (€4 for a large bottle). The only downside is the toilet is a hole in the floor

Authentic roman cake, coffee and drinks. Dad and now son has had the place for many years. I was here in 1977. Then I was allowed to see a thank-you letter from King of Denmark Frederik, who had a drink here.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really nice vintage bar in the centre of Rome! Near Campo de Fiori and Trastevere. Newly renovated but the owners (in the family since 1878...!) have kept it genuine. Excellent choice of drinks and pastries.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I studied abroad in Rome for 4 months and this was the best coffee place I found! The cappuccinos are amazing and only €1.50. The baristas are so friendly and the service is amazing. Would definitely recommend going for coffee or aperitivo!
