Davvero complimenti.
More than positive experience! The Museum includes various rooms and is divided into 2 floors; to visit it all it takes from 2 to 4 hours so much is the exhibition offer. Yesterday unfortunately there were no guides available (12.08) but there were panels complete with comprehensive explanations. On display there are numerous showcases with various types of objects: clothing, pottery, figurines, jewels, everyday objects and still remains of temples and statues. I found it very well organized, clean and cared for. The price is negligible for the service: only € 2.50. It deserves more visibility and publicity. Really well done.

Beautiful guided tour by the boys of the 3 linguistic high school of Policoro, artifacts that narrate the daily life of our ancestors, the refinement of the ceramics that over the centuries has grown becoming more and more rich in details that depict scenes, all the beautiful rooms but that that most impressed me was the last one, the XIV with the tables of Eraclea, the setting that around explains how the agricultural territory was managed, the goldsmith's showcase, that of the painter, the mercenary, etc. I also wanted to take a tour around the Museum in the hill to see some remains of the valley that connects the castle, but the fence was closed ... I hope next time

Museo aggiornato nell’allestimento e vicino all’area archeologica.
Museum updated in layout and close to the archaeological area. Place located on the outskirts but easily accessible. Friendly staff and tickets purchased on the spot cheaply. Pleasant route and explanatory panels with understandable language for non-professionals. Gorgeous collection. I would add more multimedia. Conference room present useful for events and any video narrations to be added at the beginning of the visit. I give 4 stars because it serves a refreshment point and a book shop for both scientific and popular publications and gadgets for adults and children.

It's an interesting museum about the ancient history of that area. There's a big collection of objects (statues, arms, etc.). It's possible also to visit some ruins of the old city. It's big enough to spend some pleasant hours.

The museum has numerous material such as pottery, jewellery and materials from graveyards but it's not very well explained and the rooms are dusty. The archaeological site is really interesting but now you can see that the area is abandoned.

I was there in May of 2018 and spent a wonderful time examining the pieces that remain of Magna Grecia. We were the only people in this large, well organized, and clean museum. The curator found us and helped as much as he could as my Italian is poor and his English not much better. I would recommend this museum to anyone near the area. Professional displays that brought another era to life. Thank you to the organization that maintains it.
