È stato completamente recuperato, grazie all'opera di volontari, una ventina d'anni fa; ad oggi è quindi completamente visitabile in tutta sicurezza, anche con i bambini, che avranno così l'occasione di poter "toccare con mano" un pezzo di storia. La via più semplice per raggiungerlo è quella di lasciare l'auto al parcheggio della II cantoniera della SS38 dello Stelvio oppure direttamente nel piccolo spiazzo (massimo 3-4 posti auto) situato in corrispondenza del tornante che si incontra, salendo, subito prima della Cantoniera. Raggiunto tale tornante ci si inoltra lungo la Valle dei Vitelli, seguendo le indicazioni per Le Buse e per il Bivacco Provolino. Giunti ad un trivio, subito dopo aver guadato il torrente tramite un ponte, si tiene la destra. La salita si fa da qui più dolce; giunti ad un nuovo trivio, si abbandona la traccia per il Bivacco Provolino e si prende a destra, in discesa, incontrando subito le trincee difensive. Continuando la breve discesa, in breve su raggiunge il centro dell'accampamento, da dove, senza percorso obbligato, si può iniziare la visita (tempo di salita 45 minuti, difficoltà T2). It is a former Italian military camp of the Great War, a nerve center for the Reit line, which also included the Passo dell'Ables. It was completely recovered, thanks to the work of volunteers, some twenty years ago; today it is therefore completely open to visitors in complete safety, even with children, who will thus have the opportunity to "touch" a piece of history. The easiest way to reach it is to leave the car in the parking lot of the II roadman of the SS38 of the Stelvio or directly in the small open space (maximum 3-4 parking spaces) located at the hairpin bend that you meet, going up, immediately before the Cantoniera . Reached this bend, we proceed along the Valle dei Vitelli, following the signs for Le Buse and for the Provolino Bivouac. When you reach a crossroads, immediately after having forded the stream through a bridge, keep to the right. The climb becomes softer from here; upon reaching a new crossroads, leave the trail for the Provolino Bivouac and turn right, downhill, immediately meeting the defensive trenches. Continuing the short descent, you will soon reach the center of the camp, from where, without a fixed course, you can start the visit (45 minutes climb time, difficulty T2).

L'imboccatura del sentiero è in corrispondenza del tornante n. 17, dove volendo si può parcheggiare una moto o due, non certo una macchina (a meno di non rendere invisibile la partenza del sentiero agli altri automobilisti); però prima del tornante n. 16 (come tutti gli altri, debitamente numerato su un cartello) c'è un ampio parcheggio con area picnic, da lì si tratta di scendere alcune centinaia di metri lungo la strada. Il sentiero è in salita per la prima metà, poi diventa meno ripido; per buoni camminatori basta un'oretta, mentre per famiglie può volerci mezz'ora in più. In alcuni punti c'è da superare qualche ghiaione, ma non è un sentiero difficile: noi l'abbiamo fatto con bimbi di 7, 9 e 12 anni. Non ci sono alberi perché siamo in alta quota (Le Buse è a più di 2800 m), quindi è bene premunirsi per il sole. Lungo il percorso abbiamo visto un po' di animali: molte marmotte, alcune rane e svariati uccelli rapaci. Il paesaggio è mozzafiato per tutta la lunghezza del percorso, e ne vale davvero la pena! Beautiful place in the middle of the peaks. The mouth of the path is at the hairpin bend no. 17, where you can park a motorbike or two, if not a car (unless you make the start of the path invisible to other motorists); however before the hairpin n. 16 (like all the others, duly numbered on a sign) there is a large parking lot with a picnic area, from there it is a matter of going down a few hundred meters along the road. The path is uphill for the first half, then it becomes less steep; for good walkers just an hour, while for families it can take half an hour longer. In some places there is some scree to overcome, but it is not a difficult path: we did it with children of 7, 9 and 12 years. There are no trees because we are at high altitude (Le Buse is more than 2800 m), so it is good to protect yourself for the sun. Along the way we saw some animals: many marmots, some frogs and various birds of prey. The landscape is breathtaking for the entire length of the route, and it is really worth it!
