★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sad to see the trains in such an abandoned state, completely covered in graffiti. The Circumvesuviana network could be so much more attractive if they took care of it. Privatize it!

I bought tickets to Pompeii from here, when i ask the ticket officer near the entrance to train stop she told me to wait because the train is not here yet (i think because the ticket only have 90 min journey, incase it was delayed). The train i got heading to pompei is clean and cool in the inside (but still lot of graffiti from the outside). On the other hand, the returned journey i got the old train, very hot and unpleasant, though it is in the summer

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Board here to get from Naples to Pompeii excavations. Take the train headed for Sorrento (blue line on the map), and get off at Pompei Scavi (NOT Pompei on the green line).
The train can get crowded so by boarding here you beat the rush of passengers who board at the first stop, Garibaldi.
We paid €2.80 each for a 1-way ticket at 11am on a Friday.
Don't be put off by reviews that say it feels unsafe - if you've ever travelled on New York subway or London underground you'll feel at home on the trains here.
Oh and don't forget to appreciate the artwork on every train... one day this graffiti will be featured in a museum :-)
