F	Fra DP on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Eccezionale museo, ampliato nel 2017, con numerosissimi reperti rinvenuti a Muro che raccontano la storia del Salento dall'era messapica (VIII secolo a.C.) a quella moderna. La visita si snoda tra i saloni medievali e quelli rinascimentali del Palazzo del Principe, sino ai sotterranei, le carceri e il frantoio semi-ipogeo. AGGIORNAMENTO: il museo ha recentemente riaperto dopo lo stop forzato per le misure anti-COVID. L'associazione che lo ha ottenuto in gestione ha presentato un calendario ricchissimo di eventi per luglio e agosto 2021, anche per bambini e con aperture serali. Inoltre, alcune collezioni sono state ampliate, pertanto ne consiglio la ri-visita. Exceptional museum, expanded in 2017, with numerous artifacts found in Muro that tell the history of Salento from the Messapian era (8th century BC) to the modern one. The visit winds through the medieval and Renaissance halls of the Palazzo del Principe, up to the basement, the prisons and the semi-underground oil mill. UPDATE: the museum has recently reopened after the forced stop for anti-COVID measures. The association that got it under management presented a calendar full of events for July and August 2021, also for children and with evening openings. Also, some collections have been expanded, so I recommend re-visiting.

Consigliatissimo! Con il giusto costo di 5 euro è possibile fare la visita guidata di tutte le sale dei reperti, del frantoio e del carcere. Particolarmente apprezzata è stata la spiegazione della guida Riccardo che con grande preparazione ha raccontato la storia dei reperti e gli aneddoti storici di Muro Leccese dimostrando di avere una grande preparazione della storia di tutto il Salento. Consiglio a tutti di venire. If you visit Muro Leccese, the Borgo Terra museum is undoubtedly not to be missed. With the right cost of 5 euros it is possible to take a guided tour of all the rooms of the finds, the oil mill and the prison. Particularly appreciated was the explanation of the guide Riccardo who with great preparation told the story of the finds and the historical anecdotes of Muro Leccese proving to have a great preparation of the history of the whole Salento. La visita all'intero complesso museale ricavato nel castello fa capire l'evoluzione urbanistica della cittadina dal XV fino ai giorni nostri. Molto apprezzato l'antico frantoio semi-ipogeo, un luogo veramente unico e imperdibile. A beautiful museum itinerary that narrates, through archaeological finds, the evolution of a small but significant Salento center. The visit to the entire museum complex housed in the castle makes us understand the urban evolution of the town from the fifteenth to the present day. The ancient semi-underground oil mill is much appreciated, a truly unique and unmissable place.
I	Ilaria Orlandini on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Questo museo è gestito da un'associazione che lo ha da poco riaperto e che, all'irrisoria cifra di 2.5 euro a persona, offre una visita guidata alle sale, al palazzo, alle carceri ed al frantoio semi-ipogeo. Le ragazze ci hanno spiegato con competenza e precisione sia la storia del museo, sia i reperti in esso contenuti, che vanno dall'età messapica al tardo medioevo. Vi consiglio fortemente la visita guidata, perché il museo si compone di poche sale ed è privo di reperti 'salienti', e visto da soli potrebbe risultare un po' povero! Bellissimi i soffitti del palazzo, ed emozionanti le carceri, nelle quali i prigionieri hanno inciso o scolpito navi, animali, simboli religiosi o, più semplicemente, il proprio nome! Da soli i sotterranei valgono, a mio avviso, la visita fin qui! Particolarissimo anche il graffito con la partenza per la battaglia di Lepanto dal porto di Messina che ignote mani hanno inciso sulle pareti del frantoio! Davvero una chicca! Un ringraziamento alle due ragazze che sono state le nostre guide per più di un'ora! I strongly recommend the guided tour, because the museum consists of a few rooms and is devoid of 'salient' finds, and seen alone it could be a bit poor! The ceilings of the building are beautiful, and the prisons are exciting, where prisoners have engraved or sculpted ships, animals, religious symbols or, more simply, their own name! In my opinion, the undergrounds alone are worth the visit so far! Also very particular is the graffiti with the departure for the battle of Lepanto from the port of Messina that unknown hands have engraved on the walls of the oil mill! Really a gem! Thanks to the two girls who have been our guides for over an hour!
