Paid for the museum, expecting it would be a self-guided walk through as a quick stop in town. Once I'd paid the woman at the front desk told me I would need to wait 10 minutes for the tour to start. A further 20 minutes went by and no one showed up. When I said I no longer wanted to go on the tour and just to use the amount I paid toward an item in the gift shop, she said she would need to check with her boss. Then proceeded to do nothing? And just serve other clients. After nearly 30 minutes of waiting for what was meant to be a quick stop, I didn't receive my money back or any explanation and left.

The museum of paper is a wonderful experience for a nerd interested in stationary and fine writing (and also others). You get a 20 minute tour through the paper making process and you even get to make your own Amalfi cotton paper. The entrance fee is just 7 €.

Stumbled upon the Museo della Carta whilst visiting Amalfi for the day. The tour of the factory was interesting, and the guide knowledgeable. We opted for the 'paper making experience'...we should've asked more detail as this involved standing in front of the tour group (approx. 25 people) and having a go at the traditional Amalfi paper making. As Brits, doing anything in front of a large group was out of our comfort zone, and so we politely passed on this even though we had paid for it. Despite this, the museum was good value, and interesting.

Perfect museum to know the history of creating high quality papers. Worth the visit and guided tour.

Can you believe that in the 1600 and 1700 Amalfi (back in the mountains) had 7 different small locations where paper was being made from old rags! A river runs below the area.. The paper museum has a great "Hands on" approach to telling the story! Great little gift shop with old school hand made journals etc. A must see and do not Amalfi!

Medium jaunt up a (not steep) hill. Thomas e Emilio were great guides! I know how paper is made, so I just strolled around myself for 15 min until an English guide was available. Then I had him tell me just the short version. I liked walking beyond the tourist section, through residential to get here.

Interesting tour and experience. You get a try at making paper and see how some of the old machinery worked. A bit overpriced for what you get I think but still worthwhile

Worth a visit. If you are around in Amalfi, go there. It is not a museum but an experience: you can try and make your sheets of paper. You also understand how high-quality paper industry started in middle ages.
