★ ★ ★ ★ ★ E' rra i più ricchi della Calabria per quantità di reperti esposti, si articola su due piani. Tra i pezzi più importanti trovano posto i rinvenimenti
dell’area di scavo dell’antica Kroton e del Santuario di Hera sul promontorio di Capo Colonna, dove si trova l’omonimo Parco Archeologico.
Il giardino d’ingresso ospita due grosse vasche termali in pietra labra (Asia Minore, III secolo d.C.), provenienti dal carico di un bastimento ritrovato nelle acque della Riserva Marina, all’altezza di Punta Scifo.
I reperti sono esposti in ordine cronologico: la fase preistorica è rappresentata da asce e armi litiche, un cranio umano e strumenti per l’agricoltura; l’età del Ferro da ricchi corredi funerari del crotonese e una sezione dedicata alla produzione vascolare greca, con vasi e anfore di varia provenienza. Al primo piano trovano posto, secondo un criterio topografico, i ritrovamenti effettuati nell’area urbana di Crotone. Un’intera sala è dedicata al Santuario di Hera Lacinia e agli oggetti che costituiscono il famoso Tesoro della Dea (diadema aureo e barchetta
nuragica in bronzo del VII secolo a.C.). Un’ultima sezione è dedicata all’antica Krimisa, odierna Cirò Marina, con una serie di capitelli, terrecotte votive e marmi.
It is among the richest in Calabria for the quantity of exhibits on display, it is divided into two floors. Findings are among the most important pieces
of the excavation area of the ancient Kroton and of the Sanctuary of Hera on the Capo Colonna promontory, where there is the eponymous Archaeological Park.
The entrance garden hosts two large thermal baths in labra stone (Asia Minor, 3rd century AD), coming from the load of a ship found in the waters of the Marine Reserve, at Punta Scifo.
The finds are displayed in chronological order: the prehistoric phase is represented by axes and lithic weapons, a human skull and tools for agriculture; the Iron Age from rich funerary furnishings of the Crotone and a section dedicated to the Greek vascular production, with vases and amphoras of various origins. On the first floor, according to a topographical criterion, there are the finds made in the urban area of Crotone. An entire room is dedicated to the Sanctuary of Hera Lacinia and to the objects that make up the famous Treasure of the Goddess (golden diadem and boat
bronze nuragic from the 7th century BC). A last section is dedicated to the ancient Krimisa, today known as Cirò Marina, with a series of capitals, votive terracotta and marble.
