Originariamente formava parte di un complesso monastico, di cui oggi si conservano il campanile, le celle, la pavimentazione in cotto ed il porticato in arenaria del chiostro. All’interno dell’edificio religioso si possono ammirare stucchi di gusto barocco, una raffinata pavimentazione in maiolica napoletana, due tele dell’artista locale Vitaliano Alfi risalenti al XVII secolo ed altri dipinti settecenteschi, un organo a canne in legno datato 1753 e realizzato dal napoletano Tommaso De Martino, nonché pregiati arredi e paramenti sacri di fattura napoletana del XVIII secolo. The Church of Santa Chiara is one of the places of great interest in Crotone. It was built in the 16th century and restored in the late 18th century. Originally it was part of a monastic complex, of which today the bell tower, the cells, the terracotta flooring and the sandstone portico of the cloister are preserved. Inside the religious building you can admire Baroque-style stuccos, a refined Neapolitan majolica flooring, two paintings by the local artist Vitaliano Alfi dating back to the seventeenth century and other eighteenth-century paintings, a wooden pipe organ dated 1753 and made by Neapolitan Tommaso De Martino, as well as fine furnishings and sacred vestments of the 18th century Neapolitan manufacture.

Da poco restaurata, comprende un giardino all'aperto nel quale d'estate viene celebrata la messa. Il pavimento è originale e risale ai tempi della costruzione dello stabile. È presente un organo antico che le suore suonano durante l'omelia. Consiglio a tutti di visitarla perché ne vale davvero la pena! The most beautiful church in Crotone, located in the historic center, is a piece of history that flourishes from the old city walls. Recently restored, it includes an outdoor garden where mass is celebrated in summer. The floor is original and dates back to the time of the construction of the building. There is an ancient organ that the nuns play during the homily. I recommend everyone to visit it because it is really worth it!

Lunedi 27 settembre ho assistito al concerto per pianoforte di Paolo Cognetti, sarà stata la splendida interpretazione dell'artista ed il luogo suggestivo, ma la serata rimarrà indelebile nella mia memoria. Provate a chiedere una visita guidata al parroco per poter vedere tutto quello che c'è a Santa Chiara e non viene mostrato. Non ve ne pentirete. Enchanting place, all to visit and discover. Monday 27 September I attended the piano concert by Paolo Cognetti, it must have been the splendid interpretation of the artist and the evocative place, but the evening will remain indelible in my memory.
