This is a fantastic museum and an absolute "must visit" site if you are in Syracuse. Allow plenty of time to walk round if you have any interest in the prehistory, Greek or Roman periods as there are masses of fascinating exhibits. Everything is well laid out and lit very nicely. Many items (but not all!) have informative explanations in English. Buying a joint ticket with the Greek theatre open air site nearby saves you a bit of money.

Huge collection well displayed in a contemporary space. Clear labelling in English and Italian. Also a nice garden to stroll in.

The coins section is supposed ro be great but it's not open anywhere near as much as the main museum Shuts at 2pm and not open on sun or Monday (all over on Monday though).....just worth planning so you don't waste your time

nice collection, well laid out on three levels, although the building is in dire need of refurbishment, and the gardens are hidden and neglected, a much better value when purchased as a combined ticket with the archaeological park, too bad they are not on the same grounds. (overall much better than the similar experience in agrigento

Nice collection but very bad maintained. Dust in a lot of the show cases, very bad illuminated sometimes totaly absent. Nobody realy seemes to care for it and thats a pitty.

Unbelievably rich and stratified collection from archeological sites all around south-east Sicily. If you have the strength and determination to stroll through it you'll be awarded with an overview of the ancient history of this part of the island as told through objects. But be aware that the collection is huge, if you try to read everything and look at each exhibit you simply won't have neither the time nor the capacity to take in the whole thing from beginning (Bronze Age) to the end (Late Roman Era).
