On 4 levels you will see the lives, findings and tombs from Etruscan people, that lived here in the Toscana area from 8th century BC till merging with Roman civilization in the 4th century. They had banquet and were eating in reclined positon. Women were equal to man, this was different from Roman and Greek culture. In the underground of the museum you will see many tombs and urns. Some are shaped like little decorated boxes, some like "canopi" - human shape with a face. I was surprised to see they had strainer, scoop, axe, plow, detiled earrings, pipes and valves, aquaculture,.. Don't get me even started on the pottery, which is interesting in shape but also always beautifully detiled with drawings of mythology or every day life. In the gift shop there are books also in English, magnets, cards, little statue suvenirs, vases,... Over all a good experience.
M	Montambault Claude on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a pleasant surprise ... An interesting walk back in time. A small museum worth a stop of 1:30 hour . Historical period well represented , several floors to explore. Limted guides or translated material, nonetheless very interesting.
n	nicholas rogone on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This museum is a gem. Extremely interesting and with good documentation explaining the exhibited material. Much of the museum is simply amazing realizing the age of the artifacts on display. Worth a stop when in the area.
J	J Sh on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ After reading the reviews, we decided to visit this museum whilst in Chianciano. The six euro admission was very worthwhile. Over four floors, the varied exhibition had finds from archaeological digs in that specific region, uncovering a fascinating array of objects, painting a picture of the Etruscan people. Manned by volunteers, and subject to charitable funding, an absolute gem. A minor gripe would be that some of the audio visual guides aren't great in English, but there is plenty of other information to help. Perhaps some kind student reading this review could offer to help the museum with this small issue? It was wonderful to watch the video about the actual find in 1997, then view the objects on display.
