★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il monumento a Ragusa dedicato ai caduti durante la Grande Guerra è ubicato nel centro della città vicino la Cattedrale di San Giovanni.
Questa bellissima opera fu realizzata dallo scultore Turillo Sindoni e fu inaugurata da Benito Mussolini nel 1942. Il monumento si sviluppa in verticale ed è costituito da un basamento rivestito in marmo dove sulla sommità si trova un piedistallo che sostiene il gruppo scultoreo in bronzo.
Nella parte posteriore si trova un struttura liscia dove vi è posta una corona di alloro in bronzo, simbolo di gloria e trionfo e un’incisione che recita: “Ragusa ai suoi figli caduti per la Patria sempre vivi nel cuore di tutti i fratelli italiani”. Molto importanti sono anche le pareti laterali dove si trovano incisi i nomi dei numerosi caduti ragusani, in oro e a fuoco che simboleggiano rispettivamente l’importanza e l’eternità dei caduti stessi.
The monument in Ragusa dedicated to the fallen during the Great War is located in the city center near the Cathedral of San Giovanni.
This beautiful work was created by the sculptor Turillo Sindoni and was inaugurated by Benito Mussolini in 1942. The monument develops vertically and consists of a base covered in marble where on the top there is a pedestal that supports the bronze sculptural group.
In the back there is a smooth structure where there is a bronze laurel wreath, a symbol of glory and triumph and an engraving that reads: "Ragusa to his sons who died for the homeland always alive in the hearts of all Italian brothers" . The side walls are also very important, where the names of the numerous fallen from Ragusa are engraved, in gold and on fire, which respectively symbolize the importance and eternity of the fallen themselves.
