Manca della figura della madre, che era posta ai loro piedi in preghiera, perchè danneggiata durante i bombardamenti del '43 sopra la città. Il bronzo recuperato servì in parte per realizzare le statue collocate sulla scalinata all'interno del vecchio tribunale. Il gruppo formato da quattro soldati (un ferito sdraiato a terra, un soldato che spara, un altro in procinto di estrarre la baionetta ed uno che lancia una bomba a mano), è collocato in piazza Matteotti davanti allo storico palazzo di Giustizia.
