β β β β β Well-preserved set of buildings from the 5th to 6th century with fantastic early Christian mosaics. For one ticket (9,5 EUR) you can visit Basilica San Vitale, Basilica SantΒ΄Apollinare Nuovo, Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, Neonian Baptistery and a museum with the St. Andrew Chapel. Admission to other buildings from these times (Arian Baptistery, Sant' Apollinare in Classe and Mausoleum of Theodoric) is paid separately. Except of the Basilica of St. Apollinare in Classe are all buildings in the city center and there is no problem to visit them in one day. It is hard to say, which of these churches is the most beautiful, all of them worth a visit. Probably you cannot see such a set of mosaics nowhere in the world. Photographing without flash is allowed for free.

β β β β β Stunning mosaics - a must-see church. I haven't seen anything to surpass this ceiling. Incredible when you realise just how old it is. Buy a ticket which allows you to visit all the churches and museums - excellent value

β β β β β This beautiful place is unmissable in a visit in Ravenna. The ceiling with mosaics creates a wonderful atmosphere; it is said that a visit of the starry night of the dome inspired Cole Porter to write βNight and Dayβ.

β β β β β Overall it can't compete with S. Vitale, but it is still unique in its own genre. A small masterpiece of Roman masonry, with a deligthful mosaic decoration.
Suggestion: close your eyes before entering and open them as soon as you enter. The blue sky on the vault is really worth the visit.

β β β β β Most Beautiful mosaics in the area, but please PUT LIGHTS so we can see them.
Also be aware there is a 3 minute time limit for being inside the mausoleum operated by a rude lady so be prompt.

β β β β β Small and yet absolutely breathtaking. The outside will never prepare you for the beauty of what is found inside. You only get 5 mins to enjoy this place... So make the most of it. We waited in line for 15 mins, lots of school groups going in! Take a video and don't forget the night mode of your phone camera! It's absolutely wonderful

β β β β β We were about to buy the ticket, then a cop showed up and broke the line in two, screaming loud and aggressive. In our line there was a coloured young Italian and his friends and me with wife. We were not allowed to enter the bookstore, the other line could buy tickets. The cop seemed happy when we all left. So Ravenna seems non- friendly to strangers - at least from the sight of a cop, whom I photographed after the incident. This is not how you treat people who want to see art. You sure won't see me again, neither my money

β β β β β A place to visit once in a lifetime. The true connection between Roman and byzantine civilization. The mosaics are astonishing. So are the window panes which are made from alabaster. No words!!!
