★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very authentic place, visited a lot by locals (that's always a good sign), tasty local dishes, fine prices, sympathetic staff. Portions are middle sized. I mean, depends how big appetite you have:) You won't stay hungry, but you also won't get out with feeling that you won't eat anything till tomorrow..In each case, my impressions are positive and I'll visit it again when I come to Mantova next time

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just behind piazza delle Erbe, a small traditional Mantua place. Normally open for lunch and dinner. A few tables outside on street. Make reservation by phone. Perfect for pasta dishes. No parking.

ps: they also served the best melon I've had in Mantova.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ After a long train journey we were already tigering around at 5:30 pm. We came across this restaurant shortly after. It opens at 7:15 pm. It was well worth the wait. The cuisine is honest, local specialities and ample, and very reasonably priced. It was a joy to observe a waiter who had the restaurant totally under control. No-one had to wait, no-one was ignored. Totally professional. A wonderful evening.
