★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent. Perfect location, very nice and friendly service. Great infinity pool with stunning lake view. Because COVID19 breakfast buffet was served and we felt a little bit "greedy" when asking for more than one slice of cheese :-) However, clear recommendation.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We booked a stay at the Lefay resort in a Junior Suite (50m2). The owner and manager of the hotel, Mr. Leali has stated on tripadvisor that kids from 3-12 are offered an extra bed. Luckily, I wrote to the hotel beforehand to prepare the bed. Because they replied that an extra bed wasn't possible in a Junior Suite, but only in a "dedicated family suite" which would cost an EXTRA 265 € per night (in low season November). After several emails the tone just got rougher but they didn't offer any other solution. I guess the resort thought this a clever idea: We either limit the number of younger children or we have a very profitable surcharge - how smart, win-win.... Well, for guests this is not smart, especially when this "rule"is poorly and wrongly communicated. I can understand if hotels limit the room categories that allow for an extra bed (because they are too small). But kids are in fact given an extra bed at Lefay's junior suites - but only from age 12 onwards. I also understand a no kids policy. But this doesn't work. I can't comment on the other shortcomings of the Lefay Garda mentioned here such as disappointing food in the restaurants and out-of-date interior - and I am not planning on finding out, after this experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I’ll start with the positive. The place is gorgeous, the view breathtaking and the design completely relaxing. The staff are very nice and seem eager to give good service. So why three stars for a five-star hotel?
Sometimes things go wrong and that’s when you see the real worth of the 5-stars.
1. I reached Lefay through a search for yoga retreats. I had lapsed and was looking to kickstart my practice. I was told on the first day that they believe in Chinese medicine and therefore there is no yoga. This is fine, but be advised. Also no meditation classes, or mindful walks. For this I could pay over 100 euros for a private lesson. However, If you read the brochure, a lot of emphasis is placed on these experiences - so go figure.
2. I had a Chinese medical massage and was told to relax that day as “my body has experienced something”. That night I was very sick and wiped out the next day. I suggested that the massage guy come to see me in case it was a reaction? Nothing. I saw him the next day as he was dashing out and that was it. Way to go Chinese medicine practitioner.
3. A western doctor did come to see me. I asked for paracetamol as I was experiencing a lot of aches. Later a gift bag arrived. ‘How lovey’ I thought. It was a packet of paracetamol for 8.5 (7£) euros. I needed one pill. Thank you.
4. In Covid times we expect changes. My airline moved my flight time meaning I would have to get up before 6am to make the flight. I decided that it made more sense to sleep in Milan and asked to check out one night earlier. I had paid in advance a non-flexible rate which I assumed to mean I could not cancel In Advance. I never thought it would mean that I had paid for them to be entirely inflexible. Not only did I not receive the money back for the night, not a discount, or an attempt to meet me halfway. No consideration. This follows the letter of the law but I find the best hotels are about the service not the regulations.
5. The day after I went on the ground walk. It was very pretty but it was all steps up and down In The woods. This was also the ‘running path’. So I had expected flats with some inclines.
6. Perhaps I should have started with this… I arrived after months of stress looking for recuperation. I asked to speak to an advisor and requested he build me a track for me. I was happy to have beauty treatments, massages, state of the art, anything. In 3.5 days I was Ill one day, had the tuina, 20 minutes stretching, and a ‘relaxing’ rub. And I paid for night I didn’t use.
I imagine that had I been well then My experience would have been better. The staff were kind. On a case by case basis, maybe all of these things are acceptable but I left feeling it was a sub-standard experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An extraordinary hotel. We received a very warm welcome from the reception and the service level stayed very high for the rest of our stay! The view from the hotel is stunning and it is located in a beautiful area. The spa has a great variety of pools, saunas and even a salt lake a long with numerous treatments. Breakfast and restaurants/bar came with delicious food and a warm service. Rooms are very spacious, modern and all have a view of the lake. Staff made a great effort of giving one the best possible stay in a very wholehearted way!
When we visit next time we hope that single use plastics will be completely eliminated (e.g plastic straws at bar), plastic cups in spa replaced and micro plastics (sodium polyacrylate) and other synthetic polymers are removed from your skin products.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed for New Years.. Beautiful place! wonderful staff, the room was fantastic. Had so much fun!
One problem...I told them I'm lactose intolerant but wasn't given the lactose free option at dinner because my husband got the same thing. Nevertheless, I highly recommend it.
