This is the textbook definition of a tourist trap. The worst thing was that the chef came out of the bathroom before me and didn’t wash his hands coming out… c’est la merde✋??

We had a reservation for lunch and when we got there we were given a table in full sun, even if there were like six or seven other free tables in the shadow, under the umbrellas. We asked for another table as we had a labrador and an eight months old child with us. But the answer was NO!!!! The guy that seated us was very rude, acted aggressively and looked like an interlope. He actually wanted us to keep an eight months old child in the sun at noon!!! His motivation was that other people may be scared of the labrador!!!!! Note that there was no other people on the terrace at that moment. and that the labrador was a one year old adorable puppy. Never had such a bad experience in Italy. Very bad experience at Taverna del Capitano in Sienna.

We were told we can only have a table outside since they have no child seats and we would likely disturb the other guests. The owner gave us a table in the sun, we politely asked if we can switch to one of the other 6 empty tables under umbrellas so as not to keep the baby under the noon sun and we were answered no. The reason quoted was that other guests might be scared of the labrador pup. Had this been explained by the phone all would have been resolved and we would have booked a different place. Of course we didn’t stay there and took our chances somewhere else without a reservation. We don’t recommend this place, but if you have to go there please ask the owner to keep his distance when he talks to you… he isn’t friends with the toothbrush nor with mouthwash (collutorio) and it can ruin your appetite.
N	Niko Jankosan on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went to eat there based on our hotel recommendation. I must say I was quite underwhelmed, we tried 2 general dishes, the tagliata and ossobuco. The tagliata was quite frankly sad. The quality of the meat, overdone and too small for the 20€ you get to pay. The potatoes were not cooked... The ossobuco was better, still high in price for the quality, but the major fail with the tagliata took away all my interest in trying anything else... When the manager came to ask how was food and we gave our opinion, we were quickly dismissed as "but you ate it". Yes, we were starving and still found that piece of meat subpar... Anyway, there are too many restaurants in Siena to give this place a second chance.
B	Barber Family on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is one of our favorite restaurants in all of Italy! Never a disappointment. Try any of their pasta dishes and of course the stuffed rabbit and the house red wine!

When we tried to sit down they simply refused and told us "that's not possible" without offering any explanation. We guess this had something to do with our bikes (we wanted to leave them by the wall near our table, where it seemed they wouldn't bother anyone). We didn't actually eat there, my review is just about the service.
H	Hannah Jones on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic food and hospitality, close to the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Siena. I had the pappardelle with hare—my first time trying hare, highly recommend. I’m already thinking about coming back to try more from the menu!

I had the pasta with Tuscan ragú and the stuffed rabbit. Everything was super tasty and the house wine was also excellent.
