Quando sei con la tua squadra in grotta ad esplorare e documentare il mondo sotterraneo sei veramente solo e isolato dal resto del mondo. Anche una volta fuori, se però sei nel mezzo delle foreste di West Papua in Nuova Guinea la sensazione è sempre quella di essere molto lontano; se poi sei li per studiare ed esplorare il fiume sotterraneo più grande del pianeta qualche problema lo devi sempre mettere in conto. Il clima in Nuova Guinea non è facile da prevedere: una certezza è che con oltre sette metri di pioggia all'anno, l'acqua non manca. Ma sopratutto è necessario non essere nelle enormi gallerie dell'Aouk durante una piena. Per questo durante le esplorazioni dell'Aouk Underground River, come gruppo Acheloos Geo Exploring abbiamo deciso di affidarci ai sistemi di comunicazione di Intermatica per garantirci con sicurezza tramite accesso all'web il controllo della situazione meteorologica, nonché ovviamente i collegamenti tra i vari campi base, la logistica dei trasporti e le eventuali emergenze sanitarie. Esplorare e confrontarsi con l'ignoto e le situazioni impreviste è stimolante ma richiede anche molta tranquillità. Proprio per questo essere certi di potersi affidare ai materiali è fondamentale. The climate in New Guinea is not easy to predict: one certainty is that with more than seven meters of rain a year, water is not lacking. But above all it is necessary not to be in the huge tunnels of the Aouk during a flood. Abbiamo usato un thuraya sat-sleeve per una spedizione a piedi attraverso la giungla della Papua Nuova Guinea e non solo il prodotto ha funzionato sempre alla perfezione in caso di bisogno, ma anche la loro assistenza è stata sempre puntuale ed esaustiva nonostante le ovvie difficoltà di comunicazione. Product up to expectations and serious company in everything from purchase and shipping to assistance. We used a thuraya sat-sleeve for a walking expedition through the jungle of Papua New Guinea and not only did the product always work perfectly in case of need, but also their assistance was always punctual and exhaustive despite the obvious difficulties of communication.

Lo staff ci ha proposto diverse alternative di satellitari e piani sim; assieme abbiamo scelto l'offerta che risultava essere la migliore per il nostro uso e nel giro di un paio di giorni ci è arrivato il satellitare munito di sim. Durante la spedizione abbiamo avuto un problema con il dispositivo ma lo staff di Intermatica lo ha risolto in poche ore, servizio veramente efficiente! Purtroppo in questa spedizione siamo stati travolti da una valanga, fortunatamente avevamo il satellitare con noi, in questo modo abbiamo potuto allertare i soccorsi. Consiglio vivamente questa azienda per le comunicazioni in luoghi remoti. Sicuramente per la mia prossima spedizione tornerò ad utilizzare un loro dispositivo. I got in contact with the Intermatica company in June 2019 to address my first expedition to climb a rope inviolate in northern Pakistan, Lions Melvin Jones Peak 5800mt. The staff offered us different satellite and SIM plan alternatives; together we chose the offer that turned out to be the best for our use and within a couple of days we received the satellite equipped with SIM. During the shipment we had a problem with the device but the Intermatica staff solved it in a few hours, a really efficient service! Unfortunately in this expedition we were overwhelmed by an avalanche, fortunately we had the satellite with us, so we could alert the rescuers. I highly recommend this company for communications in remote locations. Surely for my next shipment I will return to using one of their devices.
