★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We went to the Matera Tourist Information Center and hired a guide to take us on a tour of Matera. Cosimo was our guide and he's was fantastic! He took his time with us and spoke very good English. His knowledge and love of Matera was tremendous as he guided us through the Sassi. It was well worth it to have our own personal guide. We could have never seen what we did without Cosimo.

In the morning we did the extended walking tour with Alina. Our guide was amazing. Well prepared and made the tour very informative and fun. Despite they were tons of people and waiting time to get in to the facilities .. she kept us busy by sharing her knowledge. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ to Alina and her tour.
In the afternoon we went to Le Murge Park.
This was completely the opposite experience we had in the morning. The all park is basically managed but the tour guides who need to organise visits to the sites amount themselves. What could have been a one hour visit became a 3 hours long excursion. Long waiting time ... tour guide often having to organise keys with other tour guides to enter the site. At the end to see the last church we had to shorten our visit to 5 minutes whereas the other groups spent solid 15 minutes in each site. Ridiculous!!
