Il posto is a place with a unique quality: the ability to reliably surprise. A menu that is never stale and never boring, preparations that are always just perfect, a cellar stocked with the greatest of the latest. An unassuming yet sophisticated and comfortable interior, with beautiful presentations but no pretension and just the right amount of personal touch. I keep returning and returning, because this restaurant is always new and yet reassuringly always itself.
When reviewing a restaurant I would normally comment on the cuisine, mentioning my favourite dishes of theirs, but this is not possible with il Posto: the menu changes seasonally and with the fancy of the chef, so that every dinner is a novel experience.
Even more: beside the standing menu, the chef often proposes more dishes, varying even every night, so that you may very well have something completely unique. If you are visiting il Posto, always ask whether there is something "fuori menΓΉ", because you don't want to miss this opportunity.
And, if you are unsure of the wine pairing, do rely on the incredibly knowledgeable server: the man is a veritable authority, purchasing most of the cellar himself, and will be able to advise you on the perfect bottle while regaling you with the tale of its origin and his discovery of it.
Il Posto is one of those unique places where everything, as if by magic, falls into perfect place. You need simply walk in the door and trust it, and it will carry you through a great night.

β β β β β This is a family restaurant serving modern Italian cuisine of the highest standard at very reasonable prices in a friendly, attractive environment. In Sydney you would pay ridiculous prices for this experience and get nothing like what this establishment delivers. Bellisima!

β β β β β After a 2-week vacation to a few different towns in Italy, I can confidently say that this was the best meal of the trip, and a big reason why Iβm glad we did a brief stay in Bologna. For primi I had the green tortellini stuffed with burrata cheese and accompanied by tomatoes and anchovies, a perfect dish with strong and balanced flavors. For secondi I had the pork, which was cooked perfectly: very tender on the inside, and with a nice encrusted glaze on the outside. For dessert I had the special of pistachio ice cream with chocolate mousse β the mousse was particularly delicious. There was an impressive attention to detail in the flavor and the aesthetic presentation of the dishes. I also enjoyed the decor of the restaurant, and the service was attentive. Highly highly recommend!

β β β β β Absolutely amazing food and wine. The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful. The staff were incredible. We don't speak any Italian and they were all fluent in English and not judgmental!
Will definitely stop here again for the amazing food and service!

We had a funny situation - we were not ready for such restaurant but the restaurant was ready for us. That means a lot, so I can sincerely recommend it for everyone. And don't copy our mistakes - this is not fast food or usual cafe, this is Restaurant)

β β β β β Despite an excellent service, fast and agreeable, which could be rated 6, I have to rate this place 4 at most. There are good attempts at inventivity but the results are not enough. A less than savoury risotto, watery and tasteless fennel and orange salad with nuts, tortellini with ham and truffle good but not excellent, tiramisu surprisingly... not surprising. Excellent ice cream though, and a home style cheesecake a bit on the heavy side but good. The chef should rethink his dishes around the idea of more flavours. Small items are served between dishes, that are nice to look at but a bit bland. Excellent bread with turmeric. Without the wine, main dish plus dessert is around 25 euros per person which is good.
