★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Me and my partner both had the standard blue surgical mask that everyone uses and had no issues during our arrival and our time here. But when we do depart, we’re stopped by security AND during passport control and was told that we can’t board without the FFP2 mask. Fair enough we should’ve had those masks. But tell me why there were a ton of people that were allowed to go through with the same mask we had and no one batted an eyelash. Just me and my partner, who are from Far East asia and mixed race, were stopped. The other people were white and were not stopped. We’re all now boarding the plane and they still have the same mask we were told not to use. I’m not one to make a big deal out of things especially making racial accusations but pretty unfair that we’re the only two that were stopped out of everyone else that had the same mask. And I literally cannot think of any other reason why they would stop specifically us to be honest.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Easy through arrivals, though plane wasn't full, so passport control would have been a much longer wait as they only have 3 kiosks. Luggage off loaded quickly and straight into a cab, no long walks...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very cosy Airport. Short distances to walk.
Equipment and Furniture are not brandnew. I avoided the restrooms after passing the entrance door. But still: way btter than flight through Milano with an additional rental car ride etc.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Used to be good at international departures. Used many times. They tried to improve departures but made it much worse. Both ladies and gents have 2 toilets each for what can be over 400 passengers all in a very small departures area. Seating is no where near enough. Loads of people standing. When we used it there was only one toilet available per gender due to the others being our of order. Unforgivable. Add to that a one hour delay plus just two people serving in the food area where there were queues for refreshments over 50 people long. May not use Genoa Airport again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a very small airport for 6th biggest city in Italy and if you have an early or late flight there is no public transport, be ready to pay for a taxi. In my case, 25€ airport - city center on arrival and 21€ to get to the airport on departure. And I didn’t get why they had passport control of a flight that arrived from Germany (EU flight)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice small airport. Flights are limited, but there are a few good destinations from here. It is a good experience to use it. Some improvements can make it better. There is no direct connection between the airport and the center. However there is a shuttle bus that moves passengers between the airport and the train station in the area. The ticket for the train and the bus is a single one and is cheap. The connection runs at least for the most part of the day.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The most confusing airport I ever seeing ? go very earlier to find out the airport. The closest train station is 20 min walking, no signs and not even a name to recognize that is the airport. Even inside the signs takes you to weird directions and there is no one to help on English speaking. There is a transfer after you cross, whit it is €1,50

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 15 minute walk from the airport to the closest train station. (Sestri Ponete, do NOT attempt to walk to the bus or Corligliano train station, it's not possible.)
The area you walk through to Sestri Ponete is not great. Doesn't feel that safe.
Why is there not a bus service into town?
The airlink bus goes to Sestri Ponete but doesn't accept card. ? (And tbh, should be FREE)
Inside the airport is awful. Currently sat with 3 gates packed into a tiny corner with over priced food, hardly any charging ports and 1 male toilet working for the whole area??? ❓❓
No taps to refill water bottles.
Not enough seats.

Security was fast.
The mountains in the distance make a nice backdrop ??
Also worth noting:
Tough covid checks still in operation on departure regardless of destination. You'll need a booster or vaccine within 270 days ago. (They're strict about it)
