In origine fu collocato un gruppo scultoreo in stucco rappresentante Partenope e il Sebeto eseguito da Giuseppe Sanmartino. Nel 1791 Ferdinando IV decise di collocare il Toro Farnese proveniente dalle terme di Caracalla che a sua volta rimosso nel 1826 per essere custodito nel Museo archeologico nazionale già Real museo borbonico. Il Toro Farnese fu sostituito da una vasca (la tazza), un blocco monolitico in granito egizio originario del tempio di Nettuno a Paestum. Viene definita popolarmente 'a funtana d'e paparelle per il fatto che nella vasca in passato nuotavano gruppi di oche o anatre. The porphyry cup fountain was built on the occasion of the opening works of the municipal villa. Originally a stucco sculptural group representing Partenope and Sebeto was placed by Giuseppe Sanmartino. In 1791 Ferdinand IV decided to place the Farnese Bull from the Baths of Caracalla which in turn was removed in 1826 to be kept in the National Archaeological Museum, formerly the Royal Bourbon Museum. The Farnese Bull was replaced by a tub (the cup), a monolithic block in Egyptian granite originating from the temple of Neptune in Paestum. It is popularly defined 'a funtana d'e paparelle due to the fact that in the past groups of geese or ducks swam in the tank.
