Viene fatta risalire tra il nono e il decimo secolo e costituisce una delle testimonianze storiche più antiche ed interessanti del territorio castellano.
Nel 1999 ha subito un importante restauro che l'ha restituita alla sua antica bellezza. Ultimamente è stata anche inserita in un albetto speciale del fumetto di Diabolik.
Ancient Romanesque crypt located under the church of San Lorenzo in the village of Varignana, a hamlet of Castel S. Pietro Terme. It has very ancient origins. It is traced back between the ninth and tenth centuries and is one of the most ancient and interesting historical testimonies of the castle territory.
In 1999 it underwent an important restoration that returned it to its ancient beauty. Lately she has also been included in a special little piece of the Diabolik comic.
