A nice town with many services

A splendid village on the plain, where history relives among traditions, environment and buildings wisely revised in a modern key without having denied its past.

Beautiful Town Hall (formerly Palazzo della Ragione, home of the Venetian Podestà, when it had a large portico on the ground floor then dedicated to a market) where, already in the Middle Ages, the consuls of the Community met. The internal distribution of the offices is affected by the fact that, at different times, portions of different buildings placed at staggered levels have been connected to each other. There are two entrances, both historic. The one on the square wants to be the monumental one and in fact it is surmounted by the balcony of official speeches and for this reason particularly used during the twenty years of Mussolini. The one on Via Tadino, on the other hand, is the oldest and has a fresco where the recently discovered coat of arms of the city (Red Eagle on a gold background) is visible. The large wooden door has undergone renovations that are not always respectful, while the light stone outline is original and is beautiful to look at. The gray stone plinth is clearly detached from the context and ill-suited to the building. It was designed at the beginning of the 21st century above all to mask the stains of dating back humidity, but its modernity is immediately identifiable, therefore inappropriate. On the mezzanine floor (there is no cellar floor) there are the registry office and that of the Protocol and other small offices, including that of the Deputy Secretary. Going up the large and well-lit staircase you reach the Mayor's office, an atrium and waiting room, all connected to the Sala Giunta which for some years has also been used for the celebration of civil weddings and also for this reason presents the paintings on the walls the best and pieces of the art collection, including the precious reliquary from the disused chapel of the ancient hospital. To reach the other offices you have to go through labyrinthine corridors and stairs that connect the different levels (all, or almost all, connected by a convenient lift). The technical office is located on the top floor and, from its terrace, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the ancient Civic Tower and the surrounding roofs which have some interesting, albeit recent, brick chimneys and a sundial.
