G	Giovanni Dursi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Insieme con il Palazzo delle Poste e con Il Palazzo del Governo, il Palazzo di Città (o Palazzo Comunale) di Pescara è un tipico esempio dell’architettura liberty che ha caratterizzato l’espansione urbanistica di Pescara nella prima metà del Novecento. Opera di Vincenzo Pilotti del 1935, il Palazzo di Città prospetta su Piazza Italia, sulla riva sinistra del fiume Pescara, ed è circondato da vasti spazi alberati che danno risalto al suo aspetto monumentale. L'alta torre civica, rivestita in mattoni rossi e sormontata da una loggia ad archi, rappresenta il simbolo della cittadinanza pescarese. All'interno, uno magnifico scalone a doppia rampa porta al piano nobile, ove sono i saloni di rappresentanza del Comune, nonché la Sala della Giunta e l’ufficio del Sindaco. Nella sala dedicata alle riunioni del Consiglio Comunale, la parte superiore mostra una serie di affreschi, opera del pescarese Luigi Baldacci. Uno degli ingressi laterali del Palazzo è sormontato da una scritta incisa su marmo: "Ave dulce vatis flumen / Ave vetus urbis numen", un saluto al fiume caro al poeta D'Annunzio e all'antica divinità pagana che protegge la città. Il distico fu dettato da Domenico Tinozzi, primo Presidente della Provincia di Pescara, nel 1927. Together with the Palazzo delle Poste and the Government Palace, the Palazzo di Città (or Palazzo Comunale) in Pescara is a typical example of the liberty architecture that characterized the urban expansion of Pescara in the first half of the twentieth century. Designed by Vincenzo Pilotti from 1935, the Palazzo di Città overlooks Piazza Italia, on the left bank of the Pescara river, and is surrounded by vast tree-lined spaces that highlight its monumental aspect. The tall civic tower, covered in red bricks and surmounted by an arched loggia, represents the symbol of Pescara citizenship. Inside, a magnificent double flight staircase leads to the main floor, where the halls of the Municipality are located, as well as the Sala della Giunta and the Mayor's office. In the room dedicated to the Town Council meetings, the upper part shows a series of frescoes, the work of Luigi Baldacci from Pescara. One of the side entrances of the Palace is surmounted by an inscription engraved on marble: "Ave dulce vatis flumen / Ave vetus urbis numen", a greeting to the river dear to the poet D'Annunzio and to the ancient pagan divinity who protects the city. The couplet was dictated by Domenico Tinozzi, the first President of the Province of Pescara, in 1927.

Ristrutturato appena sufficientemente ma funzionale per i Servizi Tecnici e Urbanistici. Altro è la sede Istituzionale anch'essa dello stesso periodo posta sulla stessa piazza verso il fiume Pescara. Used as Offices! Old Mussolinian building once the seat of the provincial INPS! Restructured just enough but functional for the technical and urban services. Other is the Institutional seat also from the same period located on the same square towards the Pescara river.

Da un punto di vista logistico c'è ben poca voglia di lavorare ed ancora meno competenza: operazioni che potrebbero essere risolte un due minuti richiedono lunghe ed interminabili file tra un ufficio e l'altro che non fanno altro che giocare a ping pong con gli utenti From an architectural point of view, they are absolutely splendid buildings to visit (the entire town hall is built around a rotunda) including the council chamber. From a logistical point of view there is very little desire to work and even less competence: operations that could be solved two minutes require long and endless lines between one office and another that do nothing but play ping pong with the users

Even the interiors reflect architecture in the 1920s so you still feel that kind of austere environment. You can walk through the corridors of whole complex since this building houses offices. Some interesting frescoed rooms are open only on occasions. Even by entering the halls of each building will give you an overall impression of its austerity. Not bad if you are into architecture. Nothing much to see if you are a tourist looking stunning artwork.
