The excavations, the church and the grounds below, as well as the area around the church are a first-class cultural monument ... you should plan at least 3 hours there.

Qua trovano l'eterno riposo dal 4 novembre 1921 i dieci militi Ignoti quelli che non vennero scelti da Maria Bergamas, mentre l'11 è oggi tumulato all'altare della patria a Roma nella tomba del milite ignoto. Maria Bergamas morì nel 1952 a Trieste quando non era ancora ricongiunta all’Italia; nel novembre 1954 fu sepolta anch’essa accanto ai 10 militi ignoti Cemetery that recalls the fallen of the First World War, it deserves to be visited with respect for the place it is and that it represents, with the respect that those children who gave their lives for our country deserve. Passando tra le varie file di croci e le statue suggestive, al centro del cimitero si trova l'altare dove riposano 10 militi ignoti, i quali fecero parte della selezione di 11 salme per la scelta del Milite Ignoto (sepolto poi all'Altare della Patria a Roma) - la scelta venne fatta proprio nella Basilica di Aquileia. Una volta scelto il feretro da tumulare al Vittoriano, i restanti 10 trovarono riposo sotto questo altare, insieme a Maria Bergamas, la madre che scelse il Milite Ignoto. Luogo che merita una visita, meditando su quel che successe e dedicare una preghiera per tutti i caduti di quel terribile conflitto. Visiting the Basilica of Aquileia, this place is worth a visit.
