★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Chiesa di San Rocco, di Castel del Monte, fu eretta dai superstiti della grande pestilenza del 1656, in onore del santo che aveva liberato il paese dall’epidemia. E' una piccola chiesetta nata intorno a uno dei torrioni della cinta muraria, accanto alla Porta di S. Rocco, importante ingresso dell’antico borgo fortificato. La facciata è molto semplice, di forma rettangolare ornata soltanto dai rilievi del portale e delle finestre. All'interno un altare in legno scolpito con decorazioni in oro.
The Church of San Rocco, in Castel del Monte, was built by the survivors of the great plague of 1656, in honor of the saint who had freed the town from the epidemic. It is a small church built around one of the towers of the city walls, next to the Porta di S. Rocco, an important entrance to the ancient fortified village. The facade is very simple, rectangular in shape adorned only by the reliefs of the portal and windows. Inside there is a carved wooden altar with gold decorations.
