Church located in the ancient and suggestive Via Indipendenza, with an Immaculate Madonna blessing the Gulf at the top. Priests are good and passionate, and also the seat of a living secular Franciscan fraternity (composed of lay people)

The church of San Giacomo Apostolo is located in Via dell'Indipendenza in the Borgo di Gaeta (see the NOTE). It was built towards the end of the sixteenth century, then after the damage caused by the bombings of the Second World War, the façade and the apse were partially rebuilt. The façade with red bricks, is of modern shape, but the bronze portal stands out, where there are six bas-reliefs, of circular shape that represent some scenes from the life of St. James. The interior has a single nave, with small, shallow chapels, four on each side, divided by pilasters with capitals. Noteworthy is the high altar in polychrome marble from the 18th century. Two holy-water fonts from the early 17th century are also valuable, present in the counter-façade. There are also some fine 17th century paintings: "Sacred Conversation" "The Adoration of the Magi" "Adoration of the shepherds" On the side of the apse and on the counter-façade, there are some striking polychrome stained glass windows with unusual geometric shapes. NOTE Il Borgo di Gaeta (former municipality of Elena) The village developed since ancient times outside the fortified walls of the city of Gaeta and was inhabited mainly by fishermen and farmers, also famous for the olives of Gaeta. In 1897 it became an autonomous municipality calling itself the Municipality of Elena (in honor of Princess Elena), but in 1927 it was decided again to unite it with the municipality of Gaeta, both taking this last name. therefore it is currently a district of Gaeta.
