L'edificio, di stile gotico, edificato a partire dalla fine del XIII secolo è stato portato a compimento nel 1338. La facciata in pietra romanico-gotica presenta bassorilievi con scene di pesca, barche e pesci, simboli del ringraziamento alla ricchezza offerta dal lago. L'interno, a unica navata, accoglie pregevoli opere d'arte tra cui un crocifisso ligneo del Quattrocento e nell'abside è raffigurato San Francesco tra i Santi Antonio da Padova, Bernardino, Ludovico e Bonaventura, databili al XVI secolo. Dal 1999 custodisce alcune reliquie di San Francesco, concesse dal Sacro Convento di Assisi per rinnovare la memoria del passaggio del Poverello. L'interno è davvero carismatico e trapela la spiritualità e l'altrettanto attenzione con la quale viene curata. Colma di statue, piante, immagini e bigiardini che fungono da guida per visitatori e pellegrini. The Church of San Francesco in Piediluco is beautiful. Right from the façade, simple but with an imposing and majestic staircase. The interior is truly charismatic and transpires the spirituality and the equal attention with which it is treated. Filled with statues, plants, images and cards that serve as a guide for visitors and pilgrims.
