A	Ale on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mi aspettavo qualcosa in più, visto anche il biglietto a 4 euro. Il chiostro è molto spoglio all'interno. Forse qualche pianta è qualche fiore lo risalterebbero. La pinacoteca si sostanzia in una stanza e poco più. Interessante, ma se paragonato all'ingresso gratuito alla basilica, credo non ci sia paragone. Consiglio di visitarlo, senza farci troppo "la bocca". I was expecting something more, also considering the 4 euro ticket. The cloister is very bare inside. Maybe some plants and some flowers would stand out. The art gallery consists of a room and little more. Interesting, but when compared to the free entrance to the basilica, I think there is no comparison. I recommend to visit it, without making too much "mouth".

The cloister of the Benedictine abbey of San Paolo is one of the wonders of thirteenth-century Rome. Conceived and decorated by Pietro Vassalletto, it stands out for its architectural harmony and the magnificence of its decorations. Noteworthy are the epistyle adorned with mosaics and the zoomorphic sculptures on the white marble frame. The cloister is the link between the basilica and the convent.
A	A T on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il chiostro della Basilica di San Paolo fuori le mura è davvero una esperienza unica se riuscite a visitarla quando non vi sono molte persone: si apprezza in questo modo la vera dimensione spirituale di un chiostro. Oggi era uno di quei giorni: mi sono ritrovato solo al centro del chiostro, immerso in un silenzio quasi palpabile. La luce giocava con le lunghe teorie di colonnine finemente decorate e di arcate, creando giochi di luci ed ombre sul pavimento dei corridoi del chiostro, con disegni quasi ipnotici. Un'esperienza che ristora lo spirito, donando una serenità interiore che rimanda a secoli lontani, che si aggiunge alla visita della Basilica che eleva spiritualmente, e da cui si accede al chiostro percorrendo un breve atrio affrescato con dipinti medioevali. I muri perimetrali del chiostro sono arricchiti con antiche lapidi risalenti a sepolture dell'antica Roma con sarcofagi e statue che mute osservano la scena nel trascorrere delle stagioni. Pur essendo una calda giornata di fine giugno, è stata davvero una visita apprezzata, che consiglio a chiunque sintomi a passare da queste parti. The perimeter walls of the cloister are enriched with ancient tombstones dating back to the burials of ancient Rome with sarcophagi and statues that mute observe the scene as the seasons pass. Although it was a hot day in late June, it was a really appreciated visit, which I recommend to anyone who has symptoms to pass around here.

S	Stefano Manzo on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ L’attuale Basilica di San Paolo fuori le mura dopo quella di San Pietro è la più grande di Roma, il primo edificio fu eretto nel IV secolo sul luogo dove secondo la tradizione fu sepolto il Santo. Fra le varie opere presenti è di notevole interesse e bellezza il Chiostro (XII-XIII secolo) di Pietro Vassalletto (una delle poche cose che si è salvata dall'incendio del 1823). Si entra attraverso una piccola porta e si rimane incantati da tanta armonia e sfarzo per la ricchezza del marmo e delle opere musive policrome con largo uso della doratura. La pianta è rettangolare circa 25 mt per 20 mt. i quattro lati, sono formati da colonnine con particolari capitelli e con archi a tutto sesto. Diverse colonnine sono intrecciate o binate con intarsi a mosaico, tipiche della tradizione dei Cosmati, grandi marmorari romani. Abbelliscono il chiostro diversi frammenti archeologici alcuni dei quali dell’antica basilica, ma anche bellissimi sarcofaghi romani. Un vero capolavoro assolutamente da visitare. Il chiostro della basilica di S. Paolo è il gemello di quello della basilica di S. Giovanni. Presenta la caratteristica pianta quadrangolare con il perimetro costituito da una serie di finestre delimitate da colonnine tortili binate e l'area centrale occupata da aiuole e da una fontana. Sulle pareti dei corridoi, è possibile ammirare una ricca collezione lapidea: iscrizioni latine, cristiane, frammenti di lastre e sarcofagi di varie epoche,. Visita consigliata. D	Dijana on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the nicer cloisters I’ve seen. It is surrounded by pairs of pillars some of which are spiral some circular and many are decorated. Everything here is original. Namely the cloister haven't been destroyed by the fire (1823.) and many wooden constructions have been preserved.
