The church was built in 1950 to serve a school, the "Istituto di San Francesco di Sales". (ISFS) This had been founded by the "Daughters of St Francis de Sales" in 1941, when construction work had begun on what was then a countryside site. The architect was Tullio Rossi. It is now a subsidiary church in the parish of "Nostra Signora di Coromoto", but has its own priest.
