È una delle più autentiche testimonianze della civiltà-fede in Italia del Trecento. Vi è bellissimo rosone, il suo interno è costituito da tre navate. L'opera più importante è la pala d'altare del Cerano (1573-1632) raffigurante Ia Crocifissione. Da visitare. The Basilica of San Lorenzo is from the 14th Century. Internamente è molto bella, non troppo luminosa ma con un senso di "sacralità" che da suggestione. Sulle mura esterne si vedono ancora i segni dell'epoca in cui è stata costruita Well-kept church, it is located behind the town hall of Mortara, with a large square in front (not accessible by car) and the oratory next to it. Parzialmente rimaneggiata nei due secoli seguenti, e ristrutturata a più riprese fra Otto e Novecento, rimane una delle più autentiche testimonianze della civiltà e della fede italiane del Trecento. Abbellita dal rosone e da due stupendi portali, uno frontale l'altro laterale, il suo interno a tre navate non ha nulla da invidiare a ciò che si ammira dall'esterno. Fra le varie opere d'arte custodite, spicca una pala d'altare del Cerano (1573 - 1632) raffigurante la Crocifissione; ma è da segnalare anche un notevolissimo pulpito marmoreo. La presenza di questa chiesa val bene una gita a Mortara. Built in the second half of the 14th century, the Basilica of San Lorenzo is one of the most admirable buildings of Lomellina Lombard Gothic. Partially reworked in the following two centuries, and restored several times between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, it remains one of the most authentic testimonies of the Italian civilization and faith of the fourteenth century. Embellished by the rose window and two beautiful portals, one frontal and the other lateral, its interior with three naves has nothing to envy to what one admires from the outside. Among the various works of art housed there is an altarpiece by Cerano (1573 - 1632) depicting the Crucifixion; but it is also worth noting a very remarkable marble pulpit. The presence of this church is worth a trip to Mortara.
