★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La primitiva Chiesetta dedicata a Maria Santissima Addolorata era piccolissima e sorgeva sopra una fossa che serviva da cimitero per i defunti. Con il tremendo evento sismico del 1783 fu rasa completamente al suolo e fu ricostruita – dopo anni di abbandono – su un altro sito poco distante – sicuramente l’attuale – grazie all’interessamento del Vescovo del tempo Monsignor De Chiara e dei fedeli , per venire incontro all’incremento demografico della popolazione e dunque, all’incremento crescente dei fedeli.
La chiesa intitolata a Maria Santissima Addolorata è stata eretta a parrocchia con Decreto del Vescovo di Mileto, in data 1° maggio 1906 e con Decreto reale in data 3 dicembre 1908.
Nello stesso anno fu distrutta dal terremoto del 1908. la vecchia chiesa parrocchiale venne provvisoriamente eretta come chiesa- baracca. Solo dopo il 1913, fu avviata la costruzione di quella attuale, su progetto dell'ing. Storchi.
 The primitive church dedicated to Maria Santissima Addolorata was very small and stood on a pit that served as a cemetery for the dead. With the tremendous seismic event of 1783 it was completely razed to the ground and rebuilt - after years of abandonment - on another site not far away - certainly the current one - thanks to the interest of the Bishop of the time Monsignor De Chiara and the faithful, to come meeting the population growth of the population and therefore, the growing increase of the faithful.
The church dedicated to Maria Santissima Addolorata was erected as a parish with the decree of the Bishop of Mileto, dated 1 May 1906 and with royal decree on 3 December 1908.
In the same year it was destroyed by the earthquake of 1908. The old parish church was provisionally erected as a church-shack. Only after 1913, the construction of the current one was started, based on a project by Ing. Storchi.
