★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Non è facilmente visitabile, quindi conviene approfittare di quando la aprono per ospitare le celebrazioni dei matrimoni. Sono da segnalare gli affreschi absidali, quelli sulla volta sovrastante il matroneo e gli altari in marmo decorati magistralmente da intarsi policromi.

Restaurata, le sue pareti sono un tripudio di marmi mischi nel più puro stile barocco palermitano.
Durante le visite guidate effettuate dai ragazzi delle elementari dell' Istituto S. Maria Mazzarello, se n'è colta la meraviglia.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il tempio fu costruito nel Trecento, adiacente al vasto convento carmelitano dell'epoca, sorto intorno al XII secolo e rifondato verso il 1315 secondo la regola di sant'Agostino. Solo nel XVI secolo, quando fu ulteriormente ingrandito, il convento tornò sotto la regola carmelitana che oggi non esiste più.La chiesa fu seriamente danneggiata durante i bombardamenti della seconda guerra mondiale del 22 febbraio 1943. Alle lesioni strutturali, si accompagnarono le perdite di elementi scultorei della decorazione interna. A causa del crollo di un tratto del soffitto della navata, andavano in rovina parte degli affreschi della volta eseguiti da Antonio Grano: la Trasfigurazione e Storie di Sant'Elia.
Riapertura al pubblico nel 1997 dopo un lungo restauro avviato tra il 1979 e il 1980.
The temple was built in the fourteenth century, adjacent to the vast Carmelite convent of the time, built around the twelfth century and refounded around 1315 according to the rule of St. Augustine. Only in the sixteenth century, when it was further enlarged, the convent returned under the Carmelite rule that no longer exists. The church was seriously damaged during the bombings of the Second World War on 22 February 1943. The structural damage was accompanied by the loss of elements sculptures of the interior decoration. Due to the collapse of a portion of the ceiling of the nave, part of the frescoes of the vault by Antonio Grano were ruined: the Transfiguration and Stories of Sant'Elia.
Reopening to the public in 1997 after a long restoration started between 1979 and 1980.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Chiesa edificata accanto un monastero nel 1300. La chiesa di Santa Maria in Valverde é ubicata in piazza Cavieri di Malta. Nel 1633 grazie al ricco genovese Camillo Pallavicino la chiesa fu modificata e abbellita. Nell'800 il prospetto fu rimaneggiato, in stile neoclassico e con simbolismi biblico-cristiano. L'Interno é rimasto secentesco (l'impronta barocca é evidente), marmi, sculture, tele e affreschi (alcuni attribuiti a Guglielmo Borremans).
Church built next to a monastery in 1300. The church of Santa Maria in Valverde is located in Piazza Cavieri di Malta. In 1633 thanks to the rich Genoese Camillo Pallavicino the church was modified and embellished. In the 19th century the façade was remodeled, in a neoclassical style and with biblical-Christian symbolism. The interior has remained from the seventeenth century (the Baroque imprint is evident), with marble, sculptures, paintings and frescoes (some attributed to Guglielmo Borremans).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ impressive cathedral with luminiscent Tetragramaton on the dome and elevtric candels lighted by a coin? an oximoron of a kind, but there was a guy, burried behind a pile of books - educated! - who pour an avalanche of words on me, and when i couldnt restrain myself and told him i dont understand Italian, he froze for a momemt and made a notable and this time umderstandable remark: "i am talking English!'' ;))
