Rimane aperta nel mese di dicembre in occasione della mostra internazionale di presepi "PresepiAmo" e qualche volta durante l'anno in occasione di altre mostre. Beautiful! Dell’antica costruzione non rimane che la base del campanile dal momento che tutta la struttura primitiva è stata gradualmente modificata nei secoli successivi, soprattutto nel XVIII secolo. Dal 1740 al 1750, la chiesa in base ai dettami dello stile tardo Barocco fu oggetto di un completo riassetto su progetto dell’architetto padre Raffaello Ulivi. Fu disegnata l’ampia volta dell’interno che si sovrappose al soffitto ligneo e fu costruito tutto l’apparato decorativo: a partire dall’altare in marmi policromi, agli altari laterali, agli stucchi fino alle tele e agli affreschi. La storia di questa Chiesa tuttavia non è mai stata particolarmente lineare e in più fasi fu sconsacrata e impiegata per usi diversi. Già nel 1803 fu soppressa e donata da Napoleone alla Regia Accademia di Scienze, Lettere e Arti. Tornata a svolgere la sua funzione di chiesa per alcuni anni, dal 1883 fu trasformata in Ricovero dei Mendicanti. It dates back to 1291 shortly after the installation of the Carmelite friars in Pistoia, the first settlement of the Carmine church and the adjacent convent. Of the ancient building only the base of the bell tower remains since the whole primitive structure was gradually modified in the following centuries, above all in the XVIII century. From 1740 to 1750, the church according to the dictates of the late Baroque style was the object of a complete reorganization based on the design of the architect father Raffaello Ulivi. The wide vault of the interior was designed that overlapped the wooden ceiling and the whole decorative apparatus was built: starting from the altar in polychrome marbles, the side altars, the stuccoes and the paintings and frescoes. However, the history of this Church has never been particularly linear and in several stages was deconsecrated and used for different uses. Already in 1803 it was suppressed and donated by Napoleon to the Royal Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts. Returning to its function as a church for some years, from 1883 it was transformed into a shelter of the Mendicants.
