Dedicated to the Assumption, the oldest part is the medieval bell tower. The church underwent reparations and additions until the nineteenth century. Interior frescoed.

L’edificio originale risale al 1650 ed è un rifacimento della chiesa preesistente del 1326, che era a sua volta una ricostruzione di quella del 1243. Dell’antica chiesa non rimane altro che il campanile tardo romanico del XIV secolo. La chiesa, ultimata nel 1705, subì ulteriori trasformazioni tra il 1732 e il 1734 e in tale occasione fu ampliata. Nel 1875 vennero rifatti la facciata e il pronao in stile neoclassico. L’interno è a croce latina, con tre navate divise da colonne, ha le volte decorate con affreschi. Interessante l’abside decorata con una finta cupola, rappresentante la gloria della Vergine, lavoro questo attribuibile ai pittori Luca Rossetti di Orta e Greggio di Miagliano. Sull’altare maggiore, del 1735, troneggia un maestoso quadro ad olio raffigurante l’Assunzione della Vergine risalente al 1748, opera del pittore Borsetti di Varallo. The original building dates back to 1650 and is a remake of the pre-existing church of 1326, which was in turn a reconstruction of that of 1243. The ancient church remains nothing but the late Romanesque bell tower of the fourteenth century. The church, completed in 1705, underwent further transformations between 1732 and 1734 and on that occasion it was enlarged. In 1875 the neoclassical façade and pronaos were redone. The interior has a Latin cross, with three naves divided by columns, with vaults decorated with frescoes. The apse decorated with a fake dome, representing the glory of the Virgin, is interesting. This work can be attributed to the painters Luca Rossetti of Orta and Greggio di Miagliano. On the main altar, from 1735, stands a majestic oil painting depicting the Assumption of the Virgin dating back to 1748, by the painter Borsetti di Varallo.

L'edificio dispone di 7 parcheggi gratuiti per un massimo di un'ora di sosta. Nice place of worship. A typical Christian church dedicated to the Madonna. Mainly inside there are the depictions of the Madonna and Jesus. The building has 7 free parking spaces for a maximum of one hour stop.

E' tutto ciò che rimane di una chiesa coeva che fu abbattuta nel 1650 per far posto all'attuale, a tre navate, che nel corso del secolo successivo fu poi completata e riccamente ornata (altari, coro, affreschi, ecc.). La parte più recente è la scenografica facciata di fine 1800 nello stile neoclassico allora in voga. Ottima la manutenzione. On the historical level the most interesting part is perhaps the bell tower of the 1300s which still preserves saw-toothed decorations, hanging arches and unfortunately buffered mullioned windows. It is all that remains of a coeval church that was demolished in 1650 to make way for the present, with three naves, which during the following century was then completed and richly decorated (altars, choir, frescoes, etc.). The most recent part is the spectacular facade of the late 1800s in the neoclassical style then in vogue. Excellent maintenance.

A beautiful church that we unfortunately only saw from outside. If you are in the area you should visit this wonderful architectural monument.
