★ ★ ★ ★ ★ L'abbazia è ha una pianta a croce latina a navata unica. Si iniziò a costruire nel 1592 e si fini nel 1598. Si trova a 5 min dalla stazione Ferrovia di Mortara. Sono presenti opere di famosi pittori Tintoretto e Bernardino Ferrari, etc. Nell'abside è stata ricollocata dopo restauri La Pala con l'invenzione della Santa Croce, commissionata a metà del 1600. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tuttora non abbastanza valorizzata, l'Abbazia di Santa Croce può vantare una facciata progettata nientemeno che da Pellegrino Tibaldi (1527 - 1596). Sebbene il suo completamento sia avvenuto soltanto nel 1957, si nota comunque la mano del grande artista cinquecentesco, che informa la chiesa di quel suo tipico classicismo razionalizzante appena venato di manierismo. Interessante pure il contrasto fra il bianco di fiancate e facciata, che però andrebbe ripulita, e il mattone a vista del campanile e del palazzo lateranense.
