Si suppone risalga al IX-X secolo d.C. Nel 1732 la Chiesa subì un violento terremoto, ma in breve tempo nel 1736, come attesta l'iscrizione sul portale, fu ricostruita e modificata anche nell'orientamento. L'interno presenta sul soffitto un cassettonato ligneo con al centro un dipinto raffigurante la "Decapitazione di San Giovanni". Sulla parete sinistra si può ammirare il quadro del 1742 della "Madonna con San Giovanni", dell'artista locale G.B.Prudente, originariamente posto sull'altare. Sulla stessa parete le statue della Madonna del Carmine del 1736 e quella di Gesù adolescente, donata da Pasquale Cianciulli. Sulla parete di destra le statue della Madonna delle Grazie e quella della Madonna Addolorata, donata dalla famiglia Cianciulli. Sulla porta d'ingresso vi è una cantoria lignea davvero pregevole, dipinta con scene raffiguranti la vita di S.Giovanni. L'altare in marmi policromi è del 1736 e ai suoi lati è riportato lo stemma della famiglia Cianciulli che lo donò. È sormontato da una bellissima statua di San Giovanni Battista del 1856, anch'essa donata dai Cianciulli come il baldacchino che la contiene. Sulla volta il dipinto del XVII sec. che rappresenta la "Disputa di Gesù con i Dottori nel Tempio". Celebrazioni di San Giovanni Battista il 24 giugno. È questo l'unico Santo, insieme alla Madonna, di cui viene celebrata la nascita.

It is supposed to date back to the IX-X century AD. In 1732 the Church suffered a violent earthquake, but in a short time in 1736, as the inscription on the portal testifies, it was rebuilt and also changed in orientation. The interior has a wooden coffered ceiling on the ceiling with a painting depicting the "Beheading of St. John" in the center. On the left wall you can admire the 1742 painting of the "Madonna with San Giovanni", by the local artist G.B. Prudente, originally placed on the altar. On the same wall the statues of the Madonna del Carmine of 1736 and that of the adolescent Jesus, donated by Pasquale Cianciulli. On the right wall the statues of the Madonna delle Grazie and that of the Madonna Addolorata, donated by the Cianciulli family. On the entrance door there is a really valuable wooden choir, painted with scenes depicting the life of St. John. The polychrome marble altar dates back to 1736 and on its sides there is the coat of arms of the Cianciulli family who donated it. It is surmounted by a beautiful statue of San Giovanni Battista from 1856, also donated by the Cianciulli as the canopy that contains it. On the vault the painting of the seventeenth century. representing the "Dispute of Jesus with the Doctors in the Temple". Celebrations of St. John the Baptist on June 24th. This is the only Saint, together with the Madonna, whose birth is celebrated.
