La semplice facciata presenta un portale cinquecentesco. L’interno a tre navate presenta stucchi del seicento realizzati da Gaspare Serpotta e molti opere: Gli stucchi del presbiterio sono di Orazio Ferraro; Crocifisso ligneo del cinquecento; Quadro della Madonna col Bambino tra i SS. Crispino e Crispiniano (1573); Statua marmorea della Madonna del Giglio, detta anche “della Neve” di scuola gaginesca (1570);: Fronte battesimale scolpito da Pietro Gaito (1610); Tavola quattrocentesca della Madonna della Misericordia; coro ligneo disegnato nel 1864 dall’architetto Giuseppe Damiani Almeyda ed eseguito dallo scultore palermitano Vincenzo Coco Garibaldi square. The interior with three naves features seventeenth-century stuccos made by Gaspare Serpotta and many works: The stuccoes in the presbytery are by Orazio Ferraro; Wooden crucifix of the sixteenth century; Framework of the Madonna and Child among the Saints. La chiesa presenta tre navate e il portale è decorato da arabeschi di gusto medievaleggiante. La copertura a capriate lignee è arricchita da una trave centrale riccamente decorata con stemmi, strumenti musicali ed armi. La volta a crociera è delimitata da due archi trionfali, il primo risalente agli inizi del XVIII secolo e attribuito a Vincenzo Messina, il secondo edificato dal Serpotta nella seconda metà del XVII secolo. Sullo sfondo campeggia la pala dell’Assunta realizzata da Orazio Ferraro nel 1619. Nel corso del Seicento e del Settecento l’edificio si arricchì di numerose opere d’arte e di figure in stucco a tutto tondo. L’aspetto attuale è il risultato dei restauri condotti nel 1849 dagli architetti Cavallari e Viviani che eliminarono la maggior parte delle decorazioni barocche. The construction of the church began in 1520 by the will of the first count of Castelvetrano. The church has three naves and the portal is decorated with medieval-style arabesques. The wooden trussed roof is enriched by a central beam richly decorated with coats of arms, musical instruments and weapons. The cross vault is bordered by two triumphal arches, the first dating back to the early 18th century and attributed to Vincenzo Messina, the second built by Serpotta in the second half of the 17th century. In the background stands the altarpiece of the Assumption made by Orazio Ferraro in 1619. During the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries the building was enriched with numerous works of art and stucco figures in the round. The current appearance is the result of the restorations carried out in 1849 by architects Cavallari and Viviani who eliminated most of the baroque decorations.

L'interno ha le caratteristiche della tipica basilica cinquecentesca con tre navate, e soffitto ligneo. L'altare è adornato da un altare trionfale barocco con stucchi di scuola serpottiana. It is an amazing mother church dating back to the 16th century. The monument is the symbol of the small but fascinating historic center of Castelvetrano. The interior has the characteristics of the typical sixteenth-century basilica with three naves and a wooden ceiling. The altar is adorned with a Baroque triumphal altar with stuccoes from the Serpottian school.
