F	Franca Reale on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Meraviglioso paesino ricco di turisti dove il centro e'sempre affollato.Tutti i ristorantini del centro offrono prelibatezze,sempre pieni.La chiesa si trova vicino al castello,da visitare entrambi.molto bella la chiesa,situata sopra una gradinata.Il castello di fianco ,le fa da cornice.Andateci e rimarrete contenti.Io ci vado tutti gli anni.Il paese e'Moniga del Garda.Uscita a Desenzano e procedete verso Salo'.Lo troverete dopo alcuni Km. Wonderful village full of tourists where the center is always crowded. All the restaurants in the center offer delicacies, always full. The church is located near the castle, to visit both. The church is very beautiful, situated on a staircase. , is the setting. Go there and you will be happy. I go there every year. The town is Moniga del Garda. Exit at Desenzano and proceed towards Salo. You will find it after a few Km.
E	Elena Dessy on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Chiesetta del XVI secolo nel comune di Moniga fiancheggiata da un corso d’acqua mentre sul retro della struttura vi è stato costruito il cimitero.Questa piccola chiesa fu utilizzata durante un epidemia di colera come lazzaretto. Church of the sixteenth century in the municipality of Moniga flanked by a stream while the cemetery was built on the back of the structure. This small church was used during a cholera epidemic as a hospital.
M	Mari Ube on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Purtroppo trovata chiusa ma la posizione, l'architettura e il decoro meritano una sosta. Non sappiamo molto delle sue origini ma doveva già esistere nel Medioevo. C'è un ampio parcheggio nei pressi, anche perché la chiesa si trova adiacente al cimitero. Si apprezza l'insieme stando dapprima a una certa distanza, prima di salire lungo il vialetto. L'edificio è sopraelevato su un poggio e sul lato destro scorre parallelo un torrente, che scende tintinnante in continue cascatelle. Veramente pittoresco! Guardando in alto a destra si scorgerà il bellissimo castello di Moniga. La chiesa è preceduta da una scalinata e da un protiro sostenuto da quattro colonne. Antichi affreschi interni sono andati presumibilmente perduti nel XIX secolo, quando la chiesa fu prima usata come lazzaretto, durante un’epidemia di colera, poi tinteggiata a calce viva. L’altare odierno è dedicato a San Nicola, protettore di pestilenze. Il tempio viene utilizzato - nella stagione estiva - come luogo di culto per i turisti dei campeggi vicini, mentre durante l’anno è impiegata per cerimonie e concerti perché gode di un'ottima acustica. Unfortunately found closed but the location, architecture and decor are worth a stop. We don't know much about its origins but it must have already existed in the Middle Ages. There is ample parking nearby, also because the church is adjacent to the cemetery. You can appreciate the whole by first being at a certain distance, before going up the path. The building is raised on a hillock and on the right side a torrent flows parallel, tinkling down in continuous waterfalls. Truly picturesque! Looking up to the right you will see the beautiful castle of Moniga. The church is preceded by a staircase and a porch supported by four columns. Ancient interior frescoes were presumably lost in the nineteenth century, when the church was first used as a hospital during a cholera epidemic, then painted with quicklime. Today's altar is dedicated to St. Nicholas, protector of pestilence. The temple is used - in the summer season - as a place of worship for tourists from nearby campsites, while during the year it is used for ceremonies and concerts because it has excellent acoustics.
