★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Castelnuovo di Val di Cecina est typique des villages toscans du Moyen Age héritage d'anciennes positions romaines et auparavant étrusques.
Ce château fort datant du XIème siècle rappelle la présence des Carolingiens en Italie qui donnèrent naissance par la suite aux Républiques de Pise et de Sienne dont la frontière passait à proximité du ban communal.
Le donjon fait face à la toute puissante ville de Volterra située en face de l'autre coté de la plaine.
Lors de mon passage, l'édifice ne se visitant pas seule l'architecture extérieure du donjon était visible du parvis de l'église.
Un petit effort de documentation historique aurait été un plus pour qui parcours ce joli village fortifié.
 Castelnuovo di Val di Cecina is typical of the Tuscan villages of the Middle Ages inherited from ancient Roman and previously Etruscan positions.
This fortified castle dating from the 11th century recalls the presence of the Carolingians in Italy who later gave birth to the Republics of Pisa and Siena, whose border crossed near the municipal district.
The keep faces the all-powerful city of Volterra located opposite the other side of the plain.
During my visit, the building, which cannot be visited only, the exterior architecture of the keep was visible from the church square.
A small effort of historical documentation would have been a plus for those who walk through this pretty fortified village.
