The power plant turned museum of your dreams. Even if museums aren’t your favorite, the striking displays of antiquity and machinery is a joy to see. I highly recommend it! The temporary exhibit of mosaics is also interesting. So is the Pope’s train. You can learn about Ancient Rome in a unique way at this museum. It reminds me of the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.

Very interesting place. The museum has been developed around a very old industry so you can see the huge machineries as well. The old marble tombs, sarcophagus from 1st, 2nd century. Marble statues and remains from the excavations of different roman streets.

Old power station converted to museum specializing in Roman mosaics and statues. Very cool place to visit.

This museum doesn’t get the notoriety it deserves. Marbles from the Capitol’s Museums in the setting of the electricity production site built in the first decade of the XX century: a must-do in Rome that few tourists do.

The building is the former industrial power Central supplying energy to the whole Rome the first half of 19 century. There are still the two engines and the enormous steam boiler. In the care space there are part of the infinite collection of Roman artifacts of musei capitolini. The contrast is a good match and deserve a visit as long as it not crowded and you can enjoy walking through. Unfortunately there is a very small bookshop and there is not a lounge bar (just automatic dispenser... Disappointing). There is a lack of narrative of the industrial part, just few signs and not well explained (an elementary student would not understand what was there). The Roman part has reperts of high value but there is a lack of historic path guiding through centuries of Roman emperor.

The Centrale Montemartini in Rome offers an extraordinary example of industrial archeology converted into a museum of ancient Roman art. The amazing collection of classical sculptures illustrates the development of ancient Rome from the Republican area to the late Imperial age. This is definetely one of the best off the beaten path museums in Rome.

This was a really cool museum. I have been to a lot in rome and honestly sometimes they all start to run together. All the statues and murals were amazing and it wasn’t religious related which was also very cool. Tickets were 10€ and the museum is fairly large. I spent about 90 minutes in there and it was relatively empty and a great experience. I would recommend to people visiting rome

Modern technology like power generator or big size engines and 2000 years old roman invention, art, mosaics, colours and cultural can"t go together. But this place tried to match it nicely. Roman mosaics arts, colours and techniques are simply spectaculars. Different status collections are really rear. Simply, it is a very good place to explore Roman history closely.
